Yay or Nay? (if you ever liked them, I know a lot of people say they're "unorigional") I'm hugely dissappointed in this album. I really don't know what they were thinking. Every song is so bland I just can't get into anything. "The Crusade" is just an 8 minute nap and was the only gleaming hope I had after the first 12 tracks (it being the instrumental I was expecting big things). Personally I don't think instrumentals should sound like there could be lyrics in them that were just taken out. The only realy good part of it is the 10 seconds of half-time feel. I don't want to listen to Metallica, I want to listen to Trivium. If I wanted to listen to Metallica, I'd listen to fucking Metallica. Anywho, just my opinion.
I think they've got the right idea now, sadly, its too polished and fake. If this album didn't sound like it was created note for note on a big record company computer program it would be more enjoyable. This is what Metallica's self titled would sound like if it was a flaming shitpile of failure.
It sounds like shit metallica. With some more shit on it. Probably the best trivium though. HAHAHAHA. They will always suck! (my opinion dont hold the hating triviuim against me)
What I will give these guys credit for is actually being mainstream high rotation shit, while keeping solos in the music. A long dying breed.
I said "if you ever liked them" for a reason. To keep shit like "they suck hard" out of the thread. Fuck sakes... >_>
I love the stuff...granted, they are Metallica-ish, but they sound like what Metallica -should- sound like. Right now in music-land there's a big giant void in the shape of hard rock/metal. The occasional numetal rubbish or modern rock crap attempts to fill it, but well... Trivium is severely underrated, and I'm looking forward to all their work.
I thought Ascendancy was great musically, one of the best metal albums in a long time. I always found the vocals a bit funny. The screams sounded like a young kid trying too hard, almost like a temper tantrum(which is a problem with a lot of new American Metal) and the clean vocals were a bit flat. The music was good enough to where I could ignore it. This new one is just bland, metal by the numbers. Sounds like they just threw it out to capitalize on their popularity. Probably wasn't even their idea. Heafy seriously needs to let someone else sing, he's almost as flat and limited as Brian Fair. I've always thought that Phil Labonte was the best within this style of Metal. I didn't think much of the new ATR though.
Fanboys need to stop getting worked up when people start sharing opinions on bands that they don't like. This isn't an (insert shitty band name here) fansite. So you don't like what someone else thinks of a band? let it be. lol.
i wasn't a big fan after i saw them live and was hopping this album would get me back into them, but i was very disappointed in it. NAY
