I tried making some butter, by just boiling the 'erb with the butter. But it's been a couple of days and it's still not separating from the water. Is there any way to save the thc here?

    Next time
simmer the (grinded/powdered) buds in butter or oil for a half hour.
Then cool it. Use on anything.
Boiling may be too much heat, and kill some of your spirit.

My personal favorite is ganja pesto. This is done with olive oil.

I can't imagine pesto without ganja, now.

    Cannabutter, method II

Fill the boiling pot 1/3 the way with crushed and crumbled marijuana tops. Fill the pot 3/4 the way with a mixture of 1 part butter and 4 or more parts of water. Boil for 30 minutes stirring frequently.

Remove as much debris from the bottom as possible. Allow the liquids to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate. The butter will harden on the top and can be removed. Discard the water.

If a stronger product is desired the process can be repeated with fresh water and grass.

I've never made cannabutter with water in with the butter...

    seems like a bad idea.

Maybe they were implying the use of two pots? One with water and another witt the butter?

the butter may have broken down when it was boiled.. you could have fucked up... i guess your best method of fixing this is straining the butter out of the water with a fine sieve

@other posters.. using water is a good idea when you are tryin to make a more concentrated batch of butter.. like an ounce to a 1/2lb of butter.. no way an ounce will simmer in 1 cup of butter.. so you need to cook the weed in a butter/water mixture..

I would think that if you did that you would loose some of your THC in the water. If you used that method I think you might want to boil the water off, and that could take a long time and damage your butter...

I have never done it before, but it seems logical that THC could get caught in the water too.

Just my thoughts on the subject.

THC is not water soluble.. therefor minimal THC would be lost in the water.. hence why you cannot get high off of drinking bong water

Good call joker. Im pretty sure that's what happened here..........the water and butter should pretty much separate immediately, like right out of the pan..........only reason ya cool it is so the butter becomes more solid and it's easier to handle/store.

So if yours didn't separate by now, im pretty sure ya burnt it all up when boiling.........better try again. Or you could just make some dry sift hash!!

Also just to add......a double boiler works wonders for making cannabutter.......pretty hard to burn off the butter when using one.
