I possibly have to get my wisdom teeth removed soon, can anyone give me any advice on what it's like?
it sucks horribly. you are going to be miserable for 3 days minimum. and I mean miserable. unless you are totally new to the world of narcotics, I suppose.
well, if you haven't really used narcotics recreationally, then the stuff they give you will send you straight to la-la land, or totally knock you out. But in general, you dont want to eat, you dont want to sleep, you dont want to do anything. It just sucks. My suggestion - get hepped up on goofballs and spend the entire time on hipforums
i had my wisdom teeth pulled when i was younger, and it actually didnt hurt much at all. they use some prescription strength benzocaine and use big plastic pliers to pull them out, the crunching sound gave me chills though, dont start chewing on the inside of your cheeks though because of the numbness. you'll be fine.
Piece of cake. Modern dental techniques are almost painless. I had my last tooth out 2 years ago. On Novacaine. It's much easier just to get a shot of Novacaine than being knocked out on gas. It went great. x
you were awake for the procedure? wow. I think it makes a big difference though in regards to whether they are impacted or not. I got all 4 of mine out at once, and they were all impacted, which probably explains why my experience was so bad. Of course, the actual procedure is painless and you dont even remember it. It's the time after....*shivers* I guess I should have asked if his was impacted or not.
Mine are impacted.. they wanted to take them out.. charge all this money for knocking me out, I told them to fuck off. Not like they're bother me any. For 650 dollars I can knock myself out for 2 weeks, wdf are they talkin about.
I dunno man....if they gotta come out, they gotta come out. better to get them out now, rather than wait until they cause some serious complications later on down the road and end up costing you more than $650.
They never actually said why they had to come out.. me-"whats the problem why do you have to remove them?" dentist-"theyre impacted" Me- *stares*
huh....did they take x-rays? most people dont realize it, but impacted wisdom teeth can push on the teeth directly in front of them, which causes a gap in the gumline and allows bacteria down into the root/nerve area of your teeth, which is BAAAAD.
That's because by impacted the dentist is telling you that they are going in the wrong direction and are going to start pushing the rest of your teeth out of your mouth. All 4 of mine were severly impacted when I had them removed, I was given painkillers twice before the surgery because they got so bad. They had bothered me slightly for years and then all of a sudden, I was in agony. The surgery was nothing, and I didnt even get painkillers after the surgery since I took all of mine. Didnt hurt at all. God Bless +
I say go ahead and have them done early in life. One of mine was laid over on it's side and butted up against the other tooth. Oral surgery. I've have had more pain hitting my thumb with a hammer. No sweat at all. I think the fear is worse than the actual procedure. Your imagination tends to fill in the blanks where facts are lacking. Ever wonder why we have wisdom teeth? Back in our caveman days, our jaws were larger. As we evolved, the jawbone got smaller but we still have the same number of teeth. Things get crowded in there now. Fortunately, our brains have gotten larger giving us the smarts to deal with the problem. Pity all the people who lived in the years where there was no remedy. You probably cut or yanked them out yourself, or went mad from the pain. x

HAHAHA Its a piece of cake i was talking on the phone when i got home ate chops drank pop was TRYING to convince my dad to go out but he yelled at me get in bed you just had surgery NO i'm fine!! Its a piece of cake really its all in the head
I agree with fricknfrack, it really is no big deal, yet until you fully heal, it will feel kind of funny for a while just sensing the resulting holes in your jawbone... Really, you will be just fine and better off without these useless vestiges of humanity dating back some 1,000,000 years or more and only tend to cause us problems we would be better off without...
from my own experience, it's a shitty ordeal. however, i got a "dry socket," which i think i may have caused by smoking weed shortly after my surgery (2 days after). to fix this, they had to stuff the socket where the tooth came out with strips infused with clove oil. after they did this, it wasn't bad at all. expect to lay on your couch for a couple of days, fucked up on all the meds they'll give you. and stock up on soft foods: yogurt, applesauce, mashed potatoes n gravy, ice cream, popsicles, etc... oh, and don't ask to keep the teeth!!! i did and it was horrible to see what they just yanked out of my jaw! :O
