I used to sit on the beach, eat bolgona sandwiches and watch the rich people, while my dad was in the navy. I only own one home and it's not in Coronado and if can't manage to catch the taxes up I won't own it much longer.

I don't care what most of the filthy riich own, but when they present themselves as war heros and receive veterans benefits, while ducking votes on veterans benefits I do care.

Funny how McCain is painting Obama as an elitist "celebrity," but owns so many homes from his heiress wife's beer fortune, that he doesn't even know how many they own.

Repeat: HE DOESN'T KNOW HOW MANY HOUSES HE OWNS. "I'll have my staff get back to you," he answered. Meanwhile, people all over the country are losing their homes because they can't pay their mortgages.

If Obama had said that today, the election would be over.

If Obama had said that today, the election would be over.

I think it's safe to say that it's already over; Obama doesn't have a chance in hell. They've tested what lies/rumors are effective, and the best means/timing for spreading them. They're not worried at all.

As always, Republicans will show and vote for their candidate no matter what, while liberals whine that the Dem is "too conservative" or "too liberal" and will sit home. If it's not a sure thing by election day, mark my words, a Republican will assassinate him, because "loyal Bushies" have been stuffed into every corner of our entire system for almost a decade now.

I will show up and cast my vote for Obama even if it means standing in line for twelve hours, in the hopes of dismantling today's true one-party state. But you can be sure that McCain will be elected.

Lots and lots and lots of wealthy people on all sides of the political divide own multiple homes.

    Its a great tax shelter.

Perhaps if all of that interest and property taxes were not deductable for federal tax purposes they would be less attractive investments and the ownership could "trickle down" to regular folk. We would have less McMansions.

All of these rich folk seem happy to promote higher tax rates on income knowing that they are sheltered from its effect by thier real estate.

Instead of posturing about increasing tax rates a real reformer would go after real estate tax shelters.

The rich had the Alternative Minimum Tax repealed just recently; this allows deduction of property taxes for federal purposes.

Its about a lot more than John McCain.

I don't understand what is wrong with politicians who are wealthy from legitimate, successful businesses. In this case, as in the case of John Kerry, the wealth comes from the family of the spouse. In any case, don't we want the leaders of this country to be sucessful? Do they not have the same right as any other American?

Responding to the topic, I have spent some time on Coronado (north island), but do not own a home there, and never will. It is gorgeous, but I do not have the stupid money needed to own real estate there, nor would care to.
