Let's make a numbered list of as many people as we can (from all walks of life) who are famous for attempting to make a better, more peaceful and less selfish world ... 1. Tony Benn 2. Gandhi 3. Florence Nightingale over to you lot ....
6) Martin Luther King 7) Che Guevarra (controversial I know, but I believe his heart was in the right place) 8) Gene Roddenberry 9) Nelson Mandella
That woman who refused to move on the bus when a white person told her to I'm sure she has a name but I can't remember
Oh bollocks and fuck off completely... The world is full of fucking people who try to make the world a better place day after day after fucking day... they just don't happen to be famous... so let's get off this culture of fame and celebrity and get back into the real world shall we?... Fly...
Well, right now I'm feeling shit cause I just walked out of my second job in 3 months... I'm stoned and rambling again... Just thought I'd toss these thoughts that I wrote about an hour ago out to the rest of the planet, and the only planet that might listen is here "Hip Planet" It's long...and I was lucky to find this thread... Love you too strawpuppy X X X If I could find a job that I enjoyed, could make lots of money on and was happy with the people, then I would stick at it and be happy. It would be better if it was my own business, and I could face and overcome my challenges and grow. It would have to be something of good in this world. It would have to help the planet, bring understanding, love, tolerance and harmony into this sorry world. I would like it to be a beacon of hope to every living soul. A new future, in security and love....forever... Now what business could that be? Combing science with art, truth, wisdom and beauty. For there is a future, and I can just about see it..... If I could only see it just a little bit clearer, I would know what I am supposed to be doing on this screwed up planet... Any business propositions? Don't mind sharing with a partner (even a partnership with every body on the planet) (I have this little bit of 5 acres tucked away in a small town, "in way back out there" America. I could grow organic vegtables, make delcious nutrious, "hot" meals for families on low incomes, and make jellies, chutney's, home made wines and snacks...would also like to grow a few flowers to make herbal pillows, lavender bags, face washes, hair rinses and chamomile tea...)
Well pardon me for having an idea Yes some people get more well known than others. In an age of corrupt politicians, illegal wars, disease, environmental disaster I thought it would create a nice thread to commererate of some of the people famous for doing good rather than thinking of all the famous people who do bad Unfortunately we can't make a list of the one's we haven't heard of as it wouldn't mean anything to those who didn't feel their impact.
Well it just perpetuates the conception that only a limited number of "special" people have ever done anything to help this planet... And it wipes out the countless unknown contributions of people who do what they can to help our society but who will simply never become famous... Fly...
You could look at it like that but I disagree. 1. Yes there are many other people who attempt to and achieve great things. I'm sure they don't lose interest in their cause just because they fail to get fame from it. 2. In some cases it will encourage people to look towards these people as role models and encourage them to make a change in their own lives. 3. If the efforts of some people are never made public then what they stand for may remain unknown forever.
