You lot been avoiding all references to the event over the last few weeks or have you noticed the success the competitors from Great Britain seem to be haveing for a change. I have memories of waiting till page 3 of the medal page to see team GB let alone position 3. I find myself able to join in emotionaly with the joy some of these athletes achieve and likewise with some of the sadness, am I alone in this or do others join me ?
In raptures, in raptures about the whole olympic thing. I guess when London hosts the games, it will be real. No fakery, no switching infant girls because they don't look pretty enough. Well done Team GB. Unfortunately these initials are also the same as our Prime Minister. Sorry if I am not ecstatic about the whole event. Even my girlfriend has her tail toward the tv screen.
y'all are doin' good, man. i love the olympics. my daughter is now determined to become an olympic gymnast.
don't you need to be 14 or something like that ? Sport has often been problematic to the Hip community though, it's just all a bit too competetive man, not good for the soul, ya dig. I like games myself.
I tried a Football thread. That fell like a led balloon after a few weeks. It is better perhaps to ring in to Talksport.
I've been enjoying the Olympics. I never really thought of myself of much of a sports fan, but it's been on the TV at work alot and I've found myself becoming more and more interested. They are an exceptionally talented group of people!
I love the olympics, s'funny, I dont watch too much of it bt i check up on the scores... This is the first time i've paid any attention to them though, and of course, I'm sure they will suck in london.
well I suppose us hippies would rather smoke a spliff than run around a track hehe I've watched a bit, it did warm me cockles when Rebecca Adlington and Christine Ohuruogu won their golds, they were obviously so over the moon, and I enjoyed reading the articles in the paper. It amazed me that Rebecca swims 70k a week in training. I must admit I'm also quite pleased that we beat Australia in the medal tallies. I don't generally get very nationalistic or patriotic - but it's the Aussies innit?
You like seeing success for the British competitors ? First time awareness won't be that uncommon amongst your peers either, quite a few 11 year olds would of missed it last time around. You perhaps enjoy seeing the competitors do well for GB are you comfortable then with the nation failing to present an olympic game ?
Thats starting to feel a little passee though. It has always impressed me that single minded dedication to achieve, and the buzz from success is unimaginable really. Isn't it all about patriotism though, it is a form of expression many people enjoy, the Olympics are able to present it in an honourable fashion though, it is fair to wave the Union Flag as it is just as fair for every other national to wave their own.
The Beijing Olympics was played with fakeries. From the phantom audiences, to the fireworks, and to the girl who allegedly sang. The Beijing Olympics simply reflected what China want everyone to see. They don't want us to see how they torture, rape and kill Tibetans, ordinary citizens. They don't want us to see the merciless acts against humanity. They would rather we believed that China was changing for the better and that suddenly everything was different. The Beijing Olympics was flowery (Literally) and idealistic in that it showed supposed genuine calls for one dream, one country. It is this olympics which has dazzled millions around the world into believing that China is an okey place. And that a free Tibet is happening. I watched with amazement like the billions that inhabit this cursed Earth. But knew all along that even though London won't be as spectacular. I would rather an honest Olympic games. One with true integrity. The One Dream one country motto was hollow as the state that run China. Yet in a few years time, China will be the new superpower and we will depend on China for everything. Already we have products made and imported from CHina. They are cheap, perhaps this is another scheme. I can't say that I have been hypnotised by the dream Olympics. THe holding of hands in a large circle, the sun looking stupified in its jealous sky. Perhaps a little kid would be taken in by it all. I don't.
lost the happy pills again ? The easiest thing to do is repeat the bad you hear from others, the hardest is to embrace the good. That's really just tired tripe Jane.
