so, your body releases DMT while your sleeping, right? but you're asleep, so you can't really feel or experience all of its effects... so what if you woke up someone while they were dreaming? I probably sound like a dumbass.
kind of. body creates and metabolizes dimethyltrypramine (a neurotransmitter) all the time. when you're asleep you can practice a little thing called awareness, or lucid dreaming, which will allow you to see even when your brain's hummin' at a low frequency, ducked down into the deep oceans of consciousness one awakes and one bewares. When you wake people up while they are dreaming they are forced to come back up for air
so, you're saying that when someone is woken up, you body stops the DMT from going through the transmitters? makes sense I remember one time someone said that if you wake up someone in the middle of a dream, they'd go insane. hahahaha fools.
Try this. Before you fall asleep repeat a phrase like "This is only a dream. It is not real, I am dreaming." in your head constantly. Then once you fall asleep and enter a dream try and remember that if you see a cloc, you should look at it; see the time, look away, then look bacc. Once you look bacc you'll notice that the time is all fucced up and you'll realize your in a dream. After that it's all up to you. I had a hard time flying n doing shit like that at first but practice makes perfect. :hat:
When dmt is released in your brain, it is not like a dmt trip. a dmt trip involves flooding the whole brain with dmt. but when the body naturally produces/releases dmt, it would be in specific neurons related to specific thoughts. Id say the natural purpose of endogenous psychedelics in dreaming (if this is the case that it is released in dreaming) is in facilitating the fluidity between thoughts in order to fire off many neurons at once, perhaps in order to trim redundancy or error. but thats a vague theory
but if it was found to be in nruonal fluid at higher levels during dreaming states, then we can infer that there was higher levels of dmt in the synaptic clefts, and thus the action of dmt to be greater, all up, when dreaming. so you can infer that the action of dmt plays a role in dreaming. either that or its just a byproduct of some other reaction in which case the dmt is just an accident of sorts ?
but what is dreaming? your seeing and experiencing things happen as if they were real. what happens when u smoke dmt? you see and experience things as if they were real. If you say dmt isnt dreaming because you dont hallucinate what your not realising is thats exactly what you are doing.. When you lucid dream or remember your dreams in the morning, your remembering hallucinations and if thats not the case then how do you see/experience what you do when your asleep... dreaming wouldnt hold much value if all you saw were pretty colours and shapes, so we dream/hallucinate about our day to day life. Have you ever had a dmt trip like a hallucination in ur dream, i have and its not that different. Im not sure, when we dream we operate on this different level and maybe on this level we control this state of hallucination much easier, where as when we smoke dmt when we are awake its much more abstract. I've mentioned it here before but on some of my trips I was reliving dreams from nights before...like a dejavu that was more real than air...so its all interwoven i think. dmt is dreaming dreaming is dmt
well if you think its the same thing, im not going to argue with you.. ive not felt your dreams or dmt trip.. but the only way they are related at all is in the way that you mentioned - that your consciousness plays with sensations that are not indicated in the outside world. It would be lovely if dmt equated to dreaming, it would make it all so simple. but dreaming is a lot more complex than what we can comprehend from outside of a dream. Dreaming isnt random, in my oppinion, we dream every night for a specific reason, it is part of our mental process just like being awake is. Our minds can be coherent in a way not possible on DMT trip. In ways not possible during sobriety even. but the conctent of our dreams is almost always so whacky and abstract that it barely makes sense. So it seems like its tripped out. Its much more likely that deleriants bring you into more of a 'dream' world. The dream world that is based less on specific sensations and more on the meaning and content of the dream. The thoughts prevail and the mind holds on to whichever impulse pushes hardest. New things come out from deep inside, and into the world is woven extra meaning (often freaky, by the looks of almost all trip reports with deleriants). DMT aint like that, though ive not had much experience yet, it doesnt simply go off on its own trail of meaning. if anything, content of my sensations was the hardest thing to determine. it was just a wash of perceptions, but no full conceptions until i slipped back to realness and then it was more like an acid trip than a dream. but when we dream, the content is almost the most present thing. we can often be alerted to the fact that we are dreaming when we process some confusing content in a dream. But we usually go along with whatever we have grasped. The actual appearence of things means little, people can even interchange in a dream but still be the same character in respect to you or you can change place while remaining, conceptually, in the same space. I didnt feel there was any room for this on DMT.. there was no concept of definate discernable space while i was up there. The closest thing to a dream.. well is how my thoughts would present themselves. That is to say, for example, in teh entwining of my thoughts i considered this dude's parents and I looked over in this other room and there was someone there who looked totally at home and i percieved that as his mum. it was actually my other friend, but i didnt stop to consider it all. Well this happens in dreams to - when sometimes we consider what might happen next, and it just happens as if we directed it there. In that sense I think dreaming relates to DMT. Merely the way that content of thoughts or mental objects can be influenced by areas of thoughts that usually do not make such direct connexions.
I've been in rooms and what not on dmt, like i said some of those times i was reliving a dream in which case there were scenes of mountains/buildings/rooms flashing by but it was only right at the start and really quick. My question which you brushed off is how do we dream, you are SEEING something - how is this so? you cant say it just happens.. You are right though, but you are also agreeing with me. When we dream we are functioning on a subverted level in terms of content and it has a purpose in terms of how we operate, i mean i know all the stuff about why we dream and what happens in terms of thoughts and mental process and the significance it has on us been alive but how is this content presented in a dream.. its because we are functioning on this different level that allows us to dream, im not disputing the content and effect on thoughts because its obvious been conscious and unconscious are not the same. experience dmt while asleep and awake are two different things but they are still coming from the same thing.
I think the question i brushed off, was brushed off because I dont think it is important. we see things in dreams the same way we see things in real life. We dont see things in real life because they are 'actually there' we see them because our visual stimulus is constantly giving us the information that fits the perception of that thing being there. But when we add drugs, the neurons that would normally respond to specific patterns start responding in new ways, opening up networks between neurons that result in the information needed to 'see' something thats 'not there'. Normally, our imaginations try and see plenty of things that actually arent there, except our sensibility is more prominently being informed by the consistent, learned reality that we come accustomed to over our life. So our imaginations are dubbed out by the prominence of waking life
fuck oath my other mate put it on when i was coming off th first trip.. i saw two excerpts, and both of them were very illucidating... but i feel like I already have the answers to their issues.. iuts just a matter of putting it into words
