i've felt pretty insecure ever since i had this encounter with a woman who worked at a gas station near my house. it went like this: her: "who twisted your dreads?" me: "my friend backcombed them about three months ago" her: "oh. well she shouldn't have. is she black?" me: "um...n-no..." and while it was all in good fun she kinda made me feel weird about being a white person with dreadlocks. i mean....i guess my dreads looks a lot different than twisted dreads on afro-type hair and maybe that's just what she had in mind. luckily this was the first time i ever felt this way. part of the reason i wanted dreads was because they can't discriminate, all it takes is hair to make dreads and skin color doesn't matter. most black people have complimented my dreads so far. i dunno, just rambling. any thoughts?

another reason to like natural dreads when u get a question like that u can just look at em confused and say what do u meantwisted? i just went for a walk in the woods for a couple months and when i came out n looked in a miirror i was surpriosed to find my head got all dreaded
I had a crazy old black man follow me down the street once only to tell me that my locks would look good after 3 months, Ive also had another slightly crazy old black man (who I know) tell me that wax is essential and washes out easily. I payed little heed to any of them, although it was nice to be told they will look good after 3 months (which they don't)
dreadlocks have nothing to with skin color at all. the only advantage when it comes to race, is that some races have hair texture that locks up more easily. black hair locks up more easily, and native american and some Caucasion hair is bone straight. No ethnicity has more right to have dreadlocks than anyone else...
Exactly one of the reasons I just natural! They cant tell me I can't have them so much, if my hair naturally grows into them.
Many people seriously think jamaican rastafarians invented dreadlocks.. they associate them with religion and with a race, while really everyone can and does dread eventually after not combing.. I'm in for about a month and I'm matting like shit! I got like 5 of them allready
