6x6 = 36sqft, ideally for flower you want 50w/sqft. a 600w light won't adequately light that space. You want 1800w to flower that space right, 1000w would suffice if you cut it down to 4x4.

Id use the 2, 400mh, But as a larger room grower Ive got 4/400 in a 25sqft.. No problems with coverage.. but all lamps are not lit,for full 12 cycles.
This type of set up takes alot of practice,. but helps reduce energy bills and still gets super bud..
and theres a low lighting system CFLS, and plants seem to respond to the lows to highs light coverage.. But I most recently began to do this timer induced light mover..
I wish I wasnt so stoned but Id explaine more.. But I thinks its self explanitory.

Hey Kingswib! Ya gotta put a little more effort in and getcherself 3 x 600 watt hps's. I ran a 9 x 5 room with 3 x 400 watt hps's and it yeilded 6 oz every other week. Now lookin back in retrospect I figure I shoulda been usin 600's. Try 3 x 600's. Im usin 4 ofem now. If your dead set on doin one or the other, 2 x 400's or 1 x 600, Id advise you to go with the 600. That way when you get another light you can get another 600. You shurly will want more light later on. Its human nature. Get the 600's. Like Orison say's, 400's are a bit harder to work with. The 6oo's are easier. I dont think 400's are very effective anywhere after 14" or so. I think 600's are good for at least 18". This is really important when you consider the tekneeks youl have to use to keep your plants trained under your lights. This all bein said, it all really depends on how youl be growin. --Hey Howdy Orison! G-Mornin Brudda! Good to see ya up this time a mornin! --I dunno. I figure a new grower will prolly do better with the 600's. Itl be less work for him.

I used to use a straight, 1000w in the 25sqft. But you get alot of dead spots. not full coverage.. and its somewhat wasteful... the 2 400, are good.. youll have some space to play with imo.. could use a bit more light.. as noted above but still your gonna have very decent coverage..

so far so good. i hung the second 400 and it seems to be lighting very well. i noticed new growth on all my babies. another quest how far would you keep the lights from the crops? what is a good temp for my room? mine stays between 70 and 75 degress f. is the good or should it be a tad bit warmer?

Those temps are pretty much perfect... don't change a thing... with a 400 you can get the plants pretty close to the lights, 8 inches give or take (more when they are young), less if you air cool them....
