you need to get some organic non-residue shampoo, that won't leave anything in your hair. or a soap bar or baking soda works well.

if by "common" shampoo you mean the "normal" stuff that is marketed to mainstream america, don't use it! it's full of wacky chemicals. stick to dr. bronner's soap, liquid or bar... when i first started washing i used a baking soda mixture- 2 T baking soda in a coffee cup filled with hot water and mixed around. i'm not sure if that's the best concoction though as i may have used too much baking soda, sometimes i wasn't able to get it out!

good luck! i'm glad your workplace is supportive of you...

yah.. "common" was meant to normal shampoo.. do baking soda work well as anti-dandruff and cures scalp irritation..??

by the way, what do you mean about "2 T baking soda". i can't understand what you mentioned with "T" symbol.. supposedly it's not mentioned to "Metric Tonne", huh..?? LOL *kidding* :D

    i'll try your formula..

    thanks :)

personally I use just a little bit in my hand while my hair is already wet and I use it to wash my dreads (I try not to move to much them around because it can losen them) but at first you can give it a good wash and when knots form go more gently

for anti dandruff and cure scalp you can use a tiny bit of tea tree oil, the less you can the better because it's strong stuff haha, theres a couple other things too like sea salt and lemon thats is good for your dreads but it wont make a difference for dandruff

I washed my dreads for the first time yesterday with Dr Bronners Liquid Soap, and even the ones without hair wraps stayed together !!! So excited, I think I got an endorphin rush from the water going through my hair since its been since august 9th when its been wet last. I agree the Dr Bronners is a good shampoo(thanks everyone for recommending it), except if your not used to it, you may feel a little tingly from it, or at least I did, i'd recommend using it on your hands first to make sure you don't react strangely to it.
