I'm going to say the book the power of now and the way of the peaceful warrior were the two pieces of literature that really opened my mind. Beyond that I found new appreciation for certain kinds of music and I've been getting progressively more into psychedelics.

I don't think anyone specifically inspired me,
    I wouldn't exactly say I'm a "hippie"
I just have a lot of different views.
I've just always found myself being a lot more open minded about things
and caring more about what's going on then most people
and hating the terrible condition the world is in.

my friends treat me the same.
a lot of them buy the peace sign stuff that's been
coming into style and make tie dyes and think it's "cute"
but really, they don't much get it.
some of them do more than others..

    yeah, I think it'll last.
It's just the way I am.

Summer usually is what brings out my inner hippie.
The flowing freedom, and endless time to discover myself, and the things that I'm interested in really just creates a sense of peace and happiness.

    what turned me on?
wel ive always lead an open lifestyle, always have done what i feel like doin whether it was ditchin school or arguing with my teachers cuz i felt they were wrong etc.
i have been listenin to hendrix and the sort since i was in my crib(all thanks to music friendly parents)
but i suppose my first real eye opener was at my first festiaval
i will never forget vibes'07 a very awesome experience to say the least!
haha my dad and i had run out of L and i figured we should go to vibes to get some more.
the presence of so many loving and caring people was overwhelming especially with the psychedelics i took.
we had happened to camp next too a couple who knew the whalers and they invited us backstage to meet them on the last day!
let me tell from that point on i am part of the vibe tribe for life.
met so many like minded people i didn't know were out there i was amazed.
no everyone at my local college know me only as hippie lol which i think is pretty funny cuz i still where collared shirts and wat not

I lived my whole life being interested in nature an' how to coexist with it. I always knew that there was somethin' people'd call me if I got out an' looked. I went to NYC while I was travlin' with my choir a few years back an' while I was there the mayor of strawberry field said I was like John Lennon an' then him an' some of the other guys around the memorial started talkin' to me an' I realized what I was man. I'm a hippy. Always have been just didn't know what to call it till a couple guys welcomed me into the circle in central park.
    Peace, love, an' freedom man.

Who really impacted your life to mold you into a hippy?
Probably, my aunt. She's a hippy and she convinced my mom to go to all these hippy festivals and drag me along as a little tike, so I think that had a great and wonderful impact on me.
How do your friends treat you, and who do you hang around with?
Most of my friends are hippies too. The ones that aren't hippies love me for being a hippie. When I go into one of my rants about why Cannabis should be legalized in class, one of my friends puts her arm around me and goes, "She's MY hippie friend."
I also hang around with a lot of older people too. A lot of my mom's friends are cool old cats. They were just a few years short of the hippie generation, but they are definitely modern day counterculture.
    Do you think it'll last?
Oh yeah, man. This is who I am.
I have found love. I don't think that can just change.

    well a combo of things.
1-my friend kyle, who is a total hippie, and showed me a different path.
2-I was tired of the metalhead music/lifestyle i was living. too much hate and over-drinking and violence. i went through many stages, goth, prep, metalhead, metro....none fit me, until the hippie thing came
3-music(the beatles started me) just love how it sounds and makes me feel. i just think old school rock artists put more effort into it than today.
4-drugs. salvia and weed used in a different ways opened my eyes.
    5-new friends and ideals
    6-the guitar('nuff said)
....the list goes on, but i was always attracted to it, it was inevtable

some of my friends call me a pussy, but they mostly are just kidding, and are ok with it. but most just say its cool and dont care, and then theres my hippie friends. love them.

it will last a bit, i think, but who knows the future? :)

    1. I started off with Kurt Cobain and had a row of female idols such as Pamela Des Barres, Patti Smith, Janis Joplin, Jane Fonda, Courtney Love and many others. Then I went to the BIG IDOLS like Jimi Hendrix, Syd Barrett, Bob Dylan, John Lennon, Frank Zappa.

    2. My friends treat me the same, but I never had those many close friends...In middle school they saw me as the "cool strange one", as I listened to various music: from grunge to ska to punk rock to ambient. I hang out with myself, in nature...But I try to go out with different people, not always the same kinda committee.

    3. Maybe. I hope so. I don't know, things change. There is no predictability in life.

i'm not a real hippie by any means. but i find the peaceful nature of hippies to be very appealing. And I find some of the ideals upheld by the culture to be very hopeful. I don't know what really turned me onto the scene. But I think what I have picked up will stick, because i think it really has had a lot to do with shaping my character.

I wouldn't say I'm a hippie, but thanks to my mom I've allways been very inclined towards thought and art, so who I am now is mostly a result of the evolution of my views on life. Music and art in general played a very big part also, since I started to get interested in counter culture with surrealism and dadaism, which eventualy led to psychedelic art and music. Another important thing was my discovery of marihuana, who was good enough to open my eyes on several things.

Most of my friends are very open minded artist/stoners, so we all get along very well.

I hope it will stay, and I believe it will stay. I've pointed most of my interests and decisions towards that direction, so if it didn't stay, that would be quite catastrophic. Not knowing the future is a bitch.

    My life influenced itself.

I hangout with skaters and other stoners....

How do my friends treat me? How do you answer that, like friends would.
