I think she means what do you use to keep your hair from becoming dried out. My personal opinion... pre dreads I used conditioner, because I was conditioned to do so. I found quickly tho, when you cut out all that stuff and go natural, your hair begins to condition itself, it stops relying on the products.
i almost never use anything the deep cleanse leaves your hair extremely soft if i do need conditioning i use vinagar dilutedapple cidar vinagar like a capfull in a 1/2 gallon or so u dont need much u can use aloe too in really bad cases use cocoa butter or jojoba oil
