just google police brutality in america.. then pick your own article.. then it will have nothing to do with me being not so good at picking it.. ;)

its a epidemic.. i attribute much of it to the fact that many of our law enforcement officers are in the guard and reserves as well and have been deployed to iraq.they come back with the combat mindset, many suffering from PTSD and are put right back on the streets.

it truly is a tragic thing thats taking place in america and the powers that be are not only allowing it to happen, they are covering it up as much as they possibly can..

as far as the "peacekeeping" forces,,there is nothing new and its not just the russians.that to is just a google search away.. ;) i personally believe its the same as with american law enforcement, for every incident that the media gets a hold of there are a dozen that go unquestioned.. its a travesty IMO...

I was not really talking about picking articles.
It was a ham fisted analogy to your thread titles and then the subsequent comments by yourself. Maybe you knew that!
    E.G:

concentration camp readied for DNC protesters..

canada to begin charging per internet site!!

There was another one I liked but I can't remember what it was about.

    I did google it...
I steered away from news articles as they tended to be from now upto 10 years old and many use weasel words.
I also steered away fro Alex Jones (who seemed to crop up).
I chose instead to look here:
    http://archive.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGAMR511471999?open&of=ENG-390 .

    Even that was old.

Must mean it does not go on anymore...

I would say from what I can see, it occurs frequently.
Is it institutional ? No IMO.
I thought you might say it had something to with PTSD.
This would suggest your police do not look after their own, right?

You say things like this all the time, I assume it is almost a natural reaction now?
I'm not suggesting you are completely wrong.
I do suggest you overstate things.
Much like the majority of Americans I have spoken to

Does "shit happen"? ofcourse it does.
It quite possibly is a travesty.
But, I tend to look for the Bad the Ugly AND THE GOOD.
The good always outshines the other two, by a factor of 100.

I don't know, definitaly not soldiers, thought. Diplomats, maybe, you know, people that use words instead of guns and tanks.

    Diplomats do their role.
    Soldiers do their role.
    Police do their role.
All in the hope of keeping the peace.

    Check this:

We help resolve conflict through an integrated civil-military approach to peacekeeping, stabilisation and sustained post-conflict peace building

Read our latest case study: Rebuilding lives in Afghanistan- the FCO-led Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) is working in Helmand Province to rebuild schools, clinics and government buildings.
In the UN Security Council we have fought for clear, robust and realistic mandates for peacekeeping missions. And we work towards stricter financial management of peacekeeping operations.
The UK is also a strong supporter of the UN’s Standby Forces Arrangements. We are working closely with the UN Secretariat to enhance the UN’s rapid deployment capability.

They plan and implement projects that help stabilise a country, such as developing an effective police force, creating jobs, and rebuilding a government’s plans for development.

    http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/fco-in-action/conflict/peacekeeping/

    Diplomats are good and vital.

So are big men with guns.

So the Federal Security Service have gay operatives?

i can keep posting links if youd like, because thats just the tip of the iceberg of what was caught on tape this year alone..that doesnt even begin to touch everything in print.. like i said hardly a day goes by when you dont here of another incident.at least a new one a week..

you can marginalize it from afar all you like but to many of us here in the states we see it as a very large problem and only see it getting worse not better..
oddly enough one of those is of a journalist being taken down for filming a investigation from a public side walk...

odon you really should come spend a couple years in america,,its really pointless to have a discussion with you otherwise..
you seem to relate everything through the eyes of your culture and also seem to not have a true grasp of the reality of american life.

im more than willing to have a discussion but i find it pointless to have to prove through debate the realities of everyday american life to someone from another country...

I see fucked up things on a daily basis.
Especially when I was "living on the street" this summer, traveling, exploring "America"
Seeing it for what it truly is . .

The government takes people away. Never to be seen again. I saw it with my own eyes.

Ok well back on topic then. I've got one simple question. If there were reporters bein' shot why hasn't it been on the U.S. news stations? And what do any of you see as a possible outcome when the establishment decides to do somethin'?

I did look and have looked.
My flippant remark is because I couuld not find anything new...maybe I did not look hard enough.

    UK police:
    http://www.amnesty.org/en/library/info/EUR45/007/2000/en

Not ever been on the end of a truncheon and always see my "friendly police officer" smiling as I pass. It is difficult for me to grasp.

But ... lets agree to disagree...

one was on CNN. i dont have TV so i have no idea what is actually on the airwaves..
i do know how it works with the google headlines, generally a story like that will make the headlines for a couple hours then it just disappears into thin air..
ive seen them disappear completely off the web after seeing it only hours before on the google headlines..

Yeah I've noticed that too plenty of times, man. But somethin' this big can't just go ignored if its true. I mean the U.N'll have Turkey howlin' up its ass. So that'll bring them howlin' here an' plus I doubt Odon will keep silent on the subject if its true. Ain't that right Odon?

They can't keep this one hidden, so lets just wait an' see

Ever since the days of Reagan, the police have become more militaristic. Swat teams. Hoods over their faces. Automatic weapons.

The line that divides law enforcement and the military has become blurred.

As for the reporters, there have been some Russian reporters shot as well. A war zone is not a good place to be holding a camera no matter where you're from.
