hey, I was wondering if there are other people out there who can listen to everything and have a huge mix of music. I consider myself pretty diverse. I am a 25 year old Mexican American from Northern California. I grew up with Mexican music and went through different musical phases growing up: Mexican pop, rock, and ranchera music, soft rock (Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart) late 90's rap and r&b (Bone Thugs and Harmony, Boys II Men), MTV pop (spice girls, ace of base), gangsta rap (Westside Connection 2Pac), alternative rock (Nirvana, Blink 182), heavy metal (Metallica, Pantera), nu metal (Korn, Slipknot) reggae (Marley), trance (Tiesto), East Coast Rap (Nas, Wu Tang Clan), Salsa (Victor Manuelle), Reggaeton (Don Omar), punk rock (Ramones, Pennywise) emo (Senses fail), Indy (Digitalism, Editors) classics (Frank Sinatra) and all those have influenced my current musical leaning...I am listening to Gang Starr's "Make em pay" and right before that I was listening to Serge Gainsbourg and Bridget Bardot's "Bonnie & Clyde" in French. I listen to music from all over the world and every decade, and if I hear something I like, I try and youtube it. I catch my new music from everywhere I can: MTV, comcast digital music, youtube, IMF, XM radio, Pandora.com, myspace (I hear my friend's music and search for new music), local radio, commercials, movies, wikipedia. Music is my life. Does anyone else have similar tastes or know of any other good sites where I can discover new music?

I like a wide variety of music. I guess I would say I like anything as long as it's good. From mudhoney to kate bush, if it's got something to say and the lyrics are good, I will give it a shot.

Mmm... yes I think I like some variety.

Classic Rock (Zeppelin, sabbath, pink floyd, deep purple, rush, etc.)

Progressive Rock (Gentle Giant, Emerson, Lake Palmer, Jethro Tull, Genesis, etc.)

Metal (Liquid Tension Experiment, Dream Theater, Megadeth, Metallica, Kyuss, some underground stoner rock)

Jazz (Al di meola, Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, Dexter Gordon, Django Reinhardt, Joe Pass, John COltrane, etc.)

Classical (Brouwer, Trio de Guitare de Quebec, etc.)

    Dead can Dance
    Loco Locass

As well as some medieval music, some arabian oud music, some quebec folk music, some indian music... etc.

But you've gotta make sure you actually hear the music. There's a huge difference between download 8 million albums off LimeWire, then putting it on shuffle and getting one album at a time and really appreciating it and understanding it. I know a lot of people say "they like everything" which mainly means they have no taste in music, which I find lame.

I do listen, like you I:
guess I would say I like anything as long as it's good.

    I'd listen to anything once.
Does not mean I'd listen to it again.

Obviously I have a few fave's that I pick out and listen to the whole album.

Nobody really has a "good taste in music" - just their own taste in music.

Generaly I just listen to anything.

Hey, I forgot to post the music I like:

Rock: Ednaswap, Pixies, Led Zeppelin, Dead Meadow

Punk: the Nymphs, Hole, Nirvana, Mudhoney

Folk: Noe Venable, Bob Dylan, Lost in Tokyo

Alternative: Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Jesus Lizard, Pagoda

Of course I like a lot more, but those are my favorites in those genres. Like I said, when I get a CD, I like to listen to it a bunch of times. Then if I really like it, I buy a physical copy.
