Not fully sure if this stuff lands in another board or not, but im even asking from a psychelic experience's view of it. Before my mushroom trip gone bad (thought i had passed though life in silent insanity and was about to die-accompanied by soundless moans into the pillows), i never gave much if any thought to it. however, i feel that there must be something out there that will make everything we do in this life matter. (or so i hope) On the other hand, i will sometimes view life as a slow, pointless path to our deaths were we will cease to function and we wont matter anymore. any ones take on this?
^^^ thats my view of it, but if u want the psychedlic view of death go for ketamine, personally i think we rot...
i too think we probably just rot but i would like to think or hope that when we die something happens in our brains to allow us to perceive the afterlife. like it's been in front of us the whole time, we just couldn't see/feel it..
anyone, scientific or otherwise can plainly see that no form of energy stops existing. everything either becomes something else or is absorbed by something else. we humans happen to be extraordinarily sophisticated forms of energy, and we aren't immune to universal law. klondike bar will cease to exist, burnabowl will cease to exist, but we will only take other forms or be absorbed, I don't know for sure but either scenario sounds hella cool. the purpose to life is to live well, healthfully and happily. by living well we glorify our purpose and the purpose of the collective organism that we make up
they say right before you die, your brain releases a huge amount of a chemical that is like ketamine or dmt, giving you a "near-death experience." i think that when you are about to die you get one of these trips, but since time is distorted while you trip your brain is somehow elevated to some weird new place where you are having a great trip that is kind of like your life but in a psychedelic twist. its a weird timeless thing where a second is infinite and perception is incredibly altered. and that's what heaven is. anyway that's what i half-believe since one of my recent acid trips.
I didn't think that we all become One with the earth and then become a tree spirit that will be cut down by a sweaty lumber jack with an intent to print bibles on the shit.
i kind of feel the same way. but when you think about it, its a little depressing. its like knowing that your mind will spend eternity in a dream world where nothing and everything is real.
yeah but when you think even more about it, that sounds like a better version of heaven than anything. often I want to stay in my dreams and am somewhat disappointed when I wake up. when you're in the dream you don't usually know it's a dream so if eternity is a dream we wouldn't know otherwise and that's why oblivion is bliss
thats a good point. its when you wake up and realise "damn, that dream was retarded!" that it was a dream and not reality
Ive never agreed with the proposition that there must be something after this life that makes it all meaningful. that doesnt even make sense. meaning is something we hold while we are alive. meaning only exists in people thinking about it. We give meaning to things in life.. but then decide that someone must have given meaning to us. No, meaning is there for life. when we die, all meaning is lost. we are just a memory. the sum of all our recognised acheivements. we become an icon that represents a live's worth of responsibilities, oppinions, actions, etc. but while we are alive, everything has meaning, because as humans we are meaning-appliers
I believe you go to heaven or hell. I know I am going to get alot of people saying im stupid but it is what I believe.
I see the universe and universes as created for one purpose. Sure, you can find other reasons but the true reason for the universe is as follows: A recycling system of minds and energy. Think about it, you look around earth and you notice life has lived here for a long time, thats all you need. Since Earth is an example of life then (if you believe and understand that anything is possible) you will know that there is life every where in the universes. Now, think about this. What exsists besides universes? I'll let you think about that... The answer truely is nothing, universes are everything and nothing. They have no beginning, and no end. So, understanding that, one will try to ask: Why do we live? Why is there nothing else besides this? Those questions still have no answers, but they give us the reason for the universe simply because this is all the universe truely offers. Look around, from plants to animals, to planets, life comes in a huge variety of shapes and forms. Even viruses and microbes are considered "living". The ammounts of life on this planet is infinate, truely. KNowing that, throw another planet into the mix, more infinity. Also movies and video games create more universes in universes. So, my thinking comes to this: When we die that energy that was given to us all the way from the beginning of time still lingers in this reality. That energy will float off into space to do who knows what. But then, who knows how long after you die, energy goes into another being and you live again on a different planet with a different species of animal perhaps even in a universe that doesn't follow the laws of physics in this universe (i.e a quantum universe or even a universe where gravity is the strongest of all 4 forces). I believe BIll Hicks said it best when he said we are all one consciousness experienceing itself subjectively. If you think about it, its fucking true. We all were babies at one point, when we were babies we didn't know a damn thing, am I right? We all had the same point of view, the same understanding(which was practically no understanding) but as we live and grow and experience we are formed like a piece of clay to our world and reality. Do you get it? I"VE LIVED MY LIFE BEFORE! I'VE LIVED ALL OF YOUR LIVES BEFORE! SAME GOES FOR ALL OF YOU! YOU'VE ALL LIVED MY LIFE ASWELL! WE ARE ALL THE SAME PERSON EACH WITH THE SAME VOICE IN YOUR HEAD, JUST SHAPED DIFFERENTLY BY TIME AND EXPERIENCE. Since I believe animals don't KNOW they are living animals on earth, I believe when you die you'll never become a slug or a plant (at least, you won't know it) because to an animal or a plant, you're not at all aware of your reality, you simply dwell in it. If you have any kind of inteligence, enough to realize your reality, then that'll be the life you'll live out. Ok, I think I said enough, heres my final words: This universe is very hostile and complex.
