Hey guys! does anyone know a good way to put broken dreads back nicely? i have a few that been broken, probably becuz of my bleaching :/ maybe the wax-using has something to do with it too ... haven't use wax for at least 2 years now tho..before that just once in awhile (had my dreads for 5 years, some pic in my profile .. ) hope my hair will forgive me one day and i will try to care for it better ...
i dunno i have alotta broken dreads from bein stepped on and tripped over and such i been just collecting the peices to stuff a pillow one day u can sew them in but if u sewed your dreads or crochetted them then thats more likely what broke em although the bleach could certainly do it too i wouldnt worry biut reattraching them thouigh, when they get really long u cant help but loose a few now and then but new ones will forem from old broken endsand it'll all be fine if u see my beard u can see i now have just 3 outta the 6 or so long dreads with 5-6 new short ones forming and at least a dozen or more of my head dreads have lost 8 inches to 2 feet off the ends not from any abuse just from getting tangled in axels gettinf g stepped on run over wrapped arounbd everything they can getting caught iun car doors dragging on ther ground and just every day wear and tear if u only losr a few just dont worry bout it take good care of what u got and do lil repair work (to the hair not repair asa in sewing in dreads just feed the hair moisturixzing strengthening stuff0 and they will forgive ya and grow long and strong
thank you!! hm sorry for my bad english but dunno what a felting needle are .. ? also, how should i sew them back on?
heh,, thank you! altho im not quit happy with'em i need to put the broken ones back.. just dont know how to do it .. :/
felting needles are used for wool felting projects... they have a sharp point with small barbs at the end. The point and barbs are pumped in and out of the dread and grab individual hairs and knot them to other individual hairs. Effective, but quite damaging if done too often so probably not the best for already damaged hair. In fact, even a little bit of felting can be damaging. If I were you I'd definitely try sewing before felting (plus, sewing is more reversible since you can just cut out the thread if you hate it). Just find thread that matches your hair color and sew the pieces back together using the smallest stitches you can.
