hey recently i've become aware of Sodium Laurel/Laureth Sulphate (SLS) as a harmful (or at least potentially harmful) ingredient in *most* cosmetics.... this kind of got me thinking... i dont really want to wait to find out, one after the other, about the harmful affects of these ingredients i can hardly pronounce, let alone tell you anything about...... oh yea, also found out that your skin absorbs about 15% of everything it comes in to contact with.... so, i've decided to go 100% natural, and organic where possible, with ALL my skin care stuff thought i'd share a couple of recipes i've experimented with so far: #1 daily face scrub/mask: (i use 1 tsp measurements unless otherwise stated) yogurt --> hydrates the skin/ refines pores honey --> hydrates the skin oats (small handful) --> soothes dry or irritated skin/ acts as exfoliator when rubbed gently on skin green clay (pinch) --> absorbs excess oil/ helps to clean away dirt/ helps to draw toxins from the skin #2 weekly face scrub/mask: yogurt honey green clay (about twice or three times as much as above recipe) loose green tea --> i read it helps to remove blackheads/ acts as an exfoliator when rubbed gently on skin the reason i only use the second one once a week is because of the green clay: i was using it on a daily basis and it started to be too harsh for my skin which tends to be dry and sensitive. Now that I've cut down, it is working better again. if anyone can add to the proporties of each ingredient that would be awsome, this is just what i've gathered so far!! have fun peace
um i was using just the loose, bulk stuff from my local health food store/ organic grocery, and now ive just bought some "A. Vogel" green clay since i'm in a different area and cant find loose stuff
since stopping all sodium laureth/lauryl sulphate products my skin rarely if ever itches. you can now use alternative products to SLS
