I'm almost positive I'm getting it done, but I would like to know how easy it would be to to hide it with a retainer and such. Parents wouldn't like it if I had a ring through my nose... I'm not the rebelious 'I hate my parents' type of kid, but I really want this done. Input would be appreciated. =D
you can get a clear retainer, if not from a shop then off the internet. a metal one hides pretty well, but if you slightly lift your face towards them they could see it shining. ive worked in a lot of restaurants and quite often my customers would comment on my "metallic boogers." but, probably your best bet when first getting it done would be to ask for the smallest retainer, the squared horseshoe shaped one without balls because it would lay flatter to the sides of your septum.
why is it you want it done? because it looks cool? cause if you hide it with a retainer for your parents' sake, you won't be able to see it. but if you want it just because you just want to know you have a hole there in your septum, yeah... go for it. but i say really closely evaluate why you feel like hiding it, and whether or not doing the hidem thing is what you want. cause there's a lot of things that parents think they'll never get over, but really when it comes down to it, they don't give a shit about in the end. but again, that's a decision only you can make.
I assume 15 is your real age and that you still live with your parents... wouldn't you have to hide it pretty much all the time then? Doesn't really make much sense to be honest, particularly when it's healing coz you can't contantly take it off and put it back in..
Yes, I really am 15 and yes, I do still live with my parents. I would have to hide it when I'm home, but that's not all too often anymore. It doesn't take all too long to heal. And I got my monroe done (bad choice of piercing because it's right there in plain sight on your face) and it healed up perfectly fine. They caught me with the labret in but didn't take it away or anything. So I'm still wondering how much they actually care.
if they "caught you" with it and didn't seem to make a big deal about it, chances are they don't really care so much. hopefully by this point in time, parents are getting smarter about the fact that piercings and such don't automatically mean you're hanging out with a bad crowd or into crazy dangerous things, and that it's just self expression, like dying your hair or something.
Its very easy to hide even with a circular barbell. I got mine pierced at 10ga, so quite thick, with a slightly opened out circular barbell. My reasoning behind it was half I hadnt decided whether I liked the look or not and the only way Id know was getting it.. a bit of curiousity of how the procedure and healing would feel, and part due to it being done on the closing day of piercing shop I was working at. It was very easy to hide. Might of just been that I have a big nose.. but the CBB would tuck up fine and it was a very rare occasion anyone would spot it.. People would even forget I had it because I decided I didnt really really like it and had it up most of the time.. I stretched it to 8ga and liked the look better and had it down but my partner and I are a bit too violent when we play and it took too many hits to be a fun piercing..
I'm supposed to be letting it close But anway, they haven't caught on to the whole self expression thing yet, so I suppose I have to be patient with them. My mother was into all kinds of drugs when she was my age, starting smoking/drinking at my age, lost her V card when she was my age, so she's probably just terrified that I'm going to be doing stuff like that. Same with my father, only younger than 15, and my step-father was basically like my mom. Having sex is one thing, but I'm not into drugs and such. I'm just really into piercings and what more done. It doesn't make me a rebellious angst filled teenager bent on having her parents shitting a brick by the time I'm 17.
i guess it depends on the shape of your nose as to how well a retainer hides it. i had a retainer in mine when i was 15 or 16 and no one ever noticed it. and actually, the septum takes a pretty long time to heal compared to other piercings, but in my experience it was really easy to keep hidden. just flip it up or down, depending on who's around. it worked out well for me. it's a pretty painful piercing though, almost as bad as my nipples. worse than my clit. and you hear a nice CRUNCH. mmmm...
mine was pierced at 10g too and was totaly easy to hide. just have it pierced with a good retainer, mine was from body circle designs. no one will notice it when its flipped up.
umm.. that crunch means yours was pierced through cartilage, which isn't the correct place for a septum piercing. The hole should be made in the soft spot just underneath the cartilage and just above the thick squishy bit at the bottom. Although mine hurt like hell too, but it's pierced in the right place. Then some people say it doesn't hurt at all.
