Thankfully, it seems to be over. Result? Nobody has it better now, than they had it before this "brave" action of Georgia... True, the Georgian president has been under great pressure. But he will have problems to explain this: ...However truthful may sound his explanation about "being provoked" by Russia, what immediate need did prompt to start the artillery fire, knowing how many civilians were put at risk? What immediate danger was there, which would only be stopped by such "emergency" measures?... ...The Russian action was 100% predictable. So what did he hope to achieve? Did he hope that US would support him, since they themselves use force in solving conflicts? In such case, his miscalculation was but too unfortunate... What is the lesson? In a critical situation you always act according the frame of mind you have developed previously. Have you been thinking about a military solution as your last resort? Now that is what you will resort to in a critical situation. We have but one more example of this one. But we've already had enough of them, have we not?... LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF is the only way of thinking, that can guarantee peace and agreement, especially in the critical situations. If that be your attitude, you will see your critical need -- to show MORE love for the neighbor. If there still is a lack of understanding, you will try to find place for more love, understanding, readiness to put up, to put other one's interests first. In such case, your "military force" will be your power of self-control! Such person will first ask himself:"Can it be, that there is something I failed to do for my neighbor? Maybe, failed to take into account some of his feelings?" In all the situations, peace and mutual satisfaction will be the first priority with such approach. Yeah, this page might be pathetic o'right. You have a lot of right with the 'force resolutions'. While people reacting with agression it is sign of their sickness. Sign that something is wrong. What? Lose of selfpower. When we have no might we become impatient and fobic. I must admit it, although the above is based on facts and is true, my conclusions in that post were in the very best case incomplete. In reality they are pathetic and one-sided. Well, without that one side it would be impossible to see the full picture. But let me compensate for my "partiality" by drawing now the whole picture of the conflict. It is clear, the Ossetian separatists don't want to be included in Georgia as autonomous part, which, however seemed anovoidable, should things go the "peaceful" way. Why? Well, Georgia hadn't shown itself "too hospitable" towards the minor tribes, once part of their "family", Abkhazian experience shows it but too well. So, Ossetians realized: after inclusion into Georgia nobody will be able to rightfully protect them. All this is but recent history of the post-soviet turmoils in the Caucasus area... As you see, every party has its kinda true reason. So, the Ossetian separatists' provoking fire, at the escalated presence of Russian ("peace-maker") troops was very transparent action. This is what all the media must have meant, when they called it "Russian planned aggression". It's a pity, Saakashvili would give in to temptation. For Russia was looking for a pretext to step on Georgia in this way or another... It's a pity things had to go this way. Russia has already set apart 2-3 billions of rubles (24rubles=1$US) for the reconstruction. This is exactly what was done in the last Chechnya campaign. Chechnya destroyed -- and rebuilt now. Sorry for Georgia, who will have to build it all anew -- again, common people has to suffer. Sorry for Ossetians, who had to pay with 1600 lives and 30000 refugees; even though the latter will be given homes and help. Sorry for Russian people, who never have a clear picture of what is what and who is who. But it is the same in the world. This all brings me back to the conclusion, that there is NO TRUTH, which can be established by arms. Somehow, politics never bring peace to ALL the parties, it is always somebody's rights to be infringed upon. As it was before, ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE. Love for fellow-humans.

I am not blaming The United Nations, I am asking where are they? It's not United Nations airplanes bombing cities, nor US planes nor Israeli. I'm not going to get into counterproductive finger pointing or to assess what percentage of blame to place on what party. I want The UN to step up and condem the fighting. Let The UN Arbitrate any border dispute. Let The UN earn thier place by performing thier job. These slackers are absent fron a crucial theater.
My big gripe is how the media and the neo-cons in our government are trying to make this whole affair into black and white, good vs. evil. You have the aggressive Soviet-like Russians on one side brutally attacking the underdog, freedom loving Georgians. And it's not that simple! Both sides are at fault and there is no absolute evil or good on either side. It's upsetting to see this childish view of foreign policy being expressed by our media and more so our government. Was interesting to find this article in the British "Independent" : Russia the bad guys? Who are the West trying to kid? That is why I don't watch TV too much. It's 90% pathetic lies. So I usually wait until there should appear more articles and opinions. Then those "conflicting" messages form a balanced opinion in me, which I then flavor with my general knowledge of the situation. At least, you don't have to have your mind constantly filled with this BS. There is a good deal of more productive things one can use his mind for.
