Ok so you're in a life & death situation. It's just you, your mother, and your child. You can save one but not both. Sacrificing yourself is not an option. What would you do? Save your mother? Save your child? And give your reasoning why!
my child. my mother is a whore and she didn't want me. so she can die. i wanna get the chance to treat my child better.
my mother would kill me if i saved her instead of my child. in fact, i'd help her kill me. ALSO, if dave saved me instead of my child, i'd be INCREDIBLY upset with him. i'd never recover from the death of my child when it was my life saved instead of hers.
I don't have a kid and won't anytime soon. If/when I do, my mom will have lived a long and fulfilling life, so i'd let her die. even if I had a kid now, my mom has lived a long life already. so either way, i'd save the kid.
Interesting responses, but not totally unexpected. Most western cultures would save the child, while eastern cultures on the otherhand would save their mom. The reasoning? In most cases, you can always have another child. But your mother is the only mother you'll ever have.
Children are the future of your tribe or family. They ensure the survival of your people and having them around means you will be looked after when you're old. Your 70 year old mother is pretty useless in comparison and I think most eastern cultures would agree.
I'd have to sacrifice my mother, because she would want me to save my child before her. She's unselfish like that.
whats all this about eastern and western. Where are the first principles you're calling eastern and western coming from?
I don't have a child nor will I.. So with that being said... neither...maybe my mom... I'd save a giraffe or a dog...and quite possibly a dinosaur... Though I must say what type of situation am I in that I have to save either my invisible child or my mother...I'm super-human so I could save everyone...
