i'm not too sure about any religion. how can so many exist? they cant ALL be true... well, i suppose they can, but thats confusing. and i cant help but think that religion is one of the major problems in the world. its one of the major causes of war. dont get me wrong, im not against religion in anyway. i just think people shouldnt push their religion on others. thats what causes the problem. by all means, inform others of your religion and ideas. but when people start with all this "if your not my religion, your damned for all eternity" shit, relgion becomes a major problem.
I would say this is a fairly common point of view. religion is manmade and thus inherently flawed. all monotheistic religions are by their own definitions self-contradictive. and no doubt, religion is one of the "roots of evil" in that it creates huge divides in people and inspires them to kill eachother and hate eachother. unlike you, I am against religion. organized religion, that is. institutions that are, essentially, age-old corporations with way more power than they deserve and have for thousands of years used fear and insecurity as weapons against innocent people, to cow them into submission and to take their money and allegiance to build more power for themselves. the main difference between, say, weapons, oil or medical corporations, and organized religion is that in religion, the leaders believe themselves to be working for the greater good (at least some of them, I'm sure there's lots of priests, mullahs and rabbis on massive power trips.) had a bit of a rant myself there, but for sure, religion is obsolete and extremely self-destructive.
i agree with you, religion is screwing the world over. its turned into being about power, not the actual religion itself. something that is supposed to be peaceful ends in war and killing, because one religion wants to be better than the other. although, i cant say im against religion completely. as human beings, we have the right to beleive what we want. Just as i have the right to NOT beleive in religion, they have the right to beleive it. i just wish people could let each other beleive what they want and leave them the fuck alone
I've always said im not a man of religion, im just a man of god and i still believe that to be true. I am a Rastafarian and that is technically not a true religion for various reasons. Jah Rastafari actually says 'never judge a man by his religion, for nobody can know the will of god' And that is the way i see it. People should be allowed to believe what they want. People should just stop arguing over what name to give the almighty, and stop arguing about which name to give the holy book because fundamentally every religion holds many similarities (minus Scientology but that is technically a cult anyway) I say stop fighting over what other people believe and just love those that love god, whatever they seek to call it, and if you dont believe in a god, fine....keep it to yourself instead of trying to convince people there isnt a god, there is no winner in that battle, its like spitting into the wind. Love, Unity, Equality and Freedom.
One God; various interpretations for the true way of enlightenment of moral behaviour. Simple enough; but then we on Earth also regard the inability to judge one another for the dialogue about this absolutely common entity. We have to again encounter one another in those ecstatically Moral ways.
be a good person, make whatever religion yoiu're part of work for you in a sense of being a better person, respecting one another, and learning some cool entertaining stories off whatever book they're from. All religions, in the end, try to make you a better person... Only when taken out of context and when they're brought to extremist proportions does any religion become hateful, selfish, and it can only do bad. however, that can be said for absolutely any extremist group... So have balance in your life, don't lose sight of our "god given" ability to tell right from wrong, to use good morals and values when debating issues, and you'll be good to go. From there you can label yourself as whatever the heck you want. .
The Tower of Babel is symbolic of this multi belief system that is called religion. Only those who truly walk with "God" know the truth. They can only share their own experiences with you. For the truth, you must go where they are and see it for yourself. The door is open...but first you must find it. x
