so there is Psilocybe Cyanescens, Cubensis, and Semilanceata? is that all the different types of mushrooms, or are there more? Maybe these are just the main ones used for psychedelic experiences... Is psilocybin the only psychedelic chemical? Most importantly, what is the difference between the effects of the different types, what are the slang terms, Liberty caps, ect. and how can you tell which is which?? Any information would be great. Experiences users, please give some input on this one, thanks
There are a good number of other species but the ones you have listed are the most common ones. The only 100% way to tell one shroom from another is to look at the spore prints. I have no experince doing this so I can't tell you much more.
There are a LOT more psychoactive mushrooms than that. P. stunzii, P. azurescens, a few Gymnipolus (sp?) species, and a LOT of others. The difference in effects is only potency. The only alkaloids produced by mushrooms are psilocin, psilocybin and baeocystin. For slang terms, I know that wavy caps are Cyanescens and Liberty Caps are P. Semilanceata and Cubensis are called gold caps. And Severely, you're right, but only partially. You can't make a true ID without a print, but it's one of many factors.
ok, but do any different types give off different visuals/body feelings, or is it all pretty much varied potencies?
They would all give the same feeling unless one was not potent at all and you would have to eat an ounce to trip and you would feel veeery sick
Most are about the same, because most psilocybin-containing mushrooms are only gonna have psilocybin and psilocin. If you get one with a high baeocystin count, it's gonna make you feel a little sick. BTW, the only person to ever die from mushroom OD had a species high in baeocystin. It's some nasty shit.
You know, I've noticed there aren't many poisonous psilocybe look-alikes. Is this true, or just wishful thinking? The Mushroom Man
