Anyone in the Santa Rosa area? I'm thinking of moving up there for college next year and I'd love to know more about the area from a local's perspective.
I lived all over da bay fo sho, so I can probably give some advice . Santa Rosa is a pretty chill place as is much of Nor Cal. At times it can be as chill as the South Bay but SF is where you want to go every once in a while if u like to thizz and rave fo sho. I'm sure u'll find many people to chill at Sonoma state or wherever your goin fo sho. Don't get me wrong though, Santa Rosa has a excellent nightlife too. You just need to know how to find it. If u eva need help finding stuff to do there then just hit me up and I'll talk to some friends who actually live there (I actually haven't been in Santa Rosa in quite some time, being on the other side of da bay and all) ).
I agree with all that...I'm moving back there very soon to go to the JC. Hopefully I'll find some new connections, if you know what I mean.
I'll be going to sebastopol for my sophomore year in high school. Yeah I need get to know some people also. Hit me up anyone from Santa Rosa area.
I'm not sure. I was going to go to some school in sebastopol. But the lanlord called earlyer for the trailer we where going to rent and declined us and all the low income housing is full. So now I'm not sure what high school im going to. We need a place fast before all the high schools get to far into the year.
i just recently moved to sonoma county. living outside of guerneville atm, but work in rohnert park and have a few friends in sebastopol. so far i really like sebastopol, but am not impressed with rohnert park, santa rosa, or guerneville. but you know, everyone likes different things!
Yeah, I'm not sure which town I'll end up in. Do you ever drive to the coast from there? I'm hoping there are some decent hiking beaches.
I grew up in Napa, then moved to Santa Rosa to attend the JC for a couple of years. I still love the area and go back at least once a year, even though I don't have any family there anymore. There are so many beautiful places to live and visit. I love Sebastapol, St. Helena, Calistoga, Bodega Bay, Russian River communities. You'll have a wonderful time no matter where you settle in.
Sebastopol sounds great with its organic farms and wineries ... However, housing is expensive as the Elite City Residents voted for an Urban Growth Boundary to block construction, and drive up their home prices, and exclude the Poor and Middle Classes. As for Guerneville - may I ask, what is it that you don't like? I haven't been there, but from the Internet, the town is advertised by the Russian River chamber as being very laid back. Whereas other places, such as Ashland, Flagstaff, and Santa Fe, are too expensive and very "Elitist." And, Guerneville doesn't have an urban growth boundary, so the average cost of a house is just $250,000 ... and it's appreciated by 20% over the past year ... according to Trulia (a real estate site). And, quarter acre lots are only $20,000 ! I'm curious as to whether or not anyone posting here feels that Guerneville might be the only true AFFORDABLE laid back NON-ELITIST hippy haven on the west coast ??? Joshua Tree, California (where I have been, and loved the scenery) is another, although there are no jobs. Palm Springs - folks were surprisingly polite, extroverted, and friendly, compared to other places like Phoenix, Flagstaff, and Albuquerque-Santa Fe. I'm looking for a place where people still care about each others, and there isn't a huge gap between the Rich and the Poor, like there is in the other cities I mentioned above. I'd like a place like Texas (but NOT IN TEXAS!), where folks are friendly and make eye contact when passing each other. Everyone wants a place where people care about their neighbor. However, sadly, that's changing these days, since Rich, Elite folks move in and deliberately take over places like Ashland and Santa Fe. In response to the migration of The Elite Rich, the Chambers of Commerces produce marketing brochures TARGETING ONLY the Rich and Elite. Take a look at Ashland's new 100 page brochure printed on thick Parchment Paper. For example, Sebastopol and Flagstaff both CHARGE YOU to mail a Relocation Packet ! They know that most people will not even bother to walk from the living room computer to their bedroom to find their credit card, and type it in on-line. That's a very sick "marketing trick" these Elite Cities play on all of us. Folks is the Russian River / Guerneville area my kind of place? Respectfully submitted, - Ponderosa, your Marketing and Real estate dude HA HA HA not really ...
