NO WAY MAN! i just got finished reading the part in A Seperate Reality where Don Genaro is introduced hahah, thats ironic. and as for you slaps, all i have to say is; to each his own. why is it neccessary for you to come in here and beligerently accuse a religion of being a cult? i myself follow shamanistic and eastern beliefs and philosophies. grow up man and be a little more accepting.
any religion can be looked at as a cult when taken to an extreme. yeah, those ectremist fundamentalist right wing "christians" are a bunch of wackos... Crazy lunatics. but, you can't put everyone in the same boat. balance is always good. . .
go to any christian church, sit in for a service and listen to what they say.. and if you are able to read through the lines you will understand..
problem is, people tend to read between the lines differently. The whole problem with religion, and why there are so many freaken branches of christianity is because too many people had a twisted view of what the Bible is trying to teach them . . .
Neptune in reality is a giant water world teaming with life because it's blue I could elaborate, but it's a long argument
Well. Famous Russian writer Tolstoy thought the same about the Russian Orthodox Church. And he drew his conclusion from ... his study of the Bible! Interesting, isn't it? He made difference between the Bible and the Church as he new it. He accused the Russian Church of being a cult; at that, he highly respected the Bible as the source of truth. The word Christianity is taken from the Bible and means the teachings of Christ as we find them in the Bible, taught by Jesus and practiced by his (Ist century) followers.
Perhaps slaps is the revolution christianity needs man. Perhaps when the church finally goes back to the good, but then in reality the church has never had a truly good spot in all its history. If we went back to where we were before we'd be in the inquisition. Farther back an' we'd be at peace. Now we are at peace but soon my friends, soon we'll be at war again. Steps taken fowards an' sleep walking back again. Dragged by the force of some inner tide
Why would a Christian wanna be part of ANY religion when Christ Himself came to destroy religion? Christ never created a religion, He destroyed them.
Did he? Am I missing something? How about the apostles, who received the holy spirit and became the beginning of the new religion? He didn't destroy; he replaced one with another. This said, I must add that "The Church" as we know it has nothing to do with Christ, but with Constantine, a pagan Roman emperor. That is why I agreed with the OP about "the churches". (But not about Christianity of the Bible.) Christ-revolutionary is another myth, having nothing to do with the picture found in the Scriptures. Like it or not, but these are the original source about Jesus... ***I don't see any real need to invent Christ freedom-fighter. There is Che, Trotsky, and many others. They did quite well without Christ at all...***
Who the fukks inventin anything? The only thing the Bible said to do "religously" is to give the widows charity, feed some poor Folks or somthing like that, and just be Kind in general. Other than this He did NOT invoke ANY religion. Christ was ANTI religion. Dont get it twisted. Christ aint in a religion.
And how about those numerous definitions of "God's will", "godly qualities", "works of the flesh" and "works of the spirit" found all through the Scriptures? How about the fact that Christ assumed the role of the "Messiah", as defined in the Scriptures written 1500 years before? That was who the people thought he was, that was who he told he was. The greatest problem of his opponents was, that he had a better application of the Scriptures in every issue! His teaching was perfect and nobody could stand against him. Accordingly, his followers in the 1st century had a strong, logical and effective body of beliefs. Such beliefs, as enabled them to stand bold against all the world, being themselves but a small group and extremely unpopular. Persecuted by the Roman government. Jesus destroyed the lies and hipocrisy, religious exploitation. But he built up a congregation of his followers, united by the new and clean religion, which was still based on the Bible. But if you mean "religion" as an organized system of lies and exploitation used from ancient times on to enslave people of all sorts, then you might enjoy reading about the "Great Harlot" in the book of Revelation (Apocalypse) Chapter 17. You might find the church to be in harmony with that description.
I think you see what Im sayin. I dont think Christ was tryin to build a religeon of His own, except to treat everyone like your bruddas and sistas. Its PEOPLE that build a "religeon" around ANYTHING. When Christ said "Fallow Me", He wasnt inductin the person He was speakin to into any "religeon". He was offering them Christianity. Christianity wasnt suposed to be a religion. Its a way of life. We can all clearly see what "religion" dose and what livin the way Christ taught us to live dose. Its two oposite ways of life. He never intended for us to fight about, -"whats more important, speakin in toungs, or bein baptized". Religion causes disention. Either you jump around and do flips threw the church with your bretherin, or you get down on your knees and say hail Marrys over and over again. Religion is WAKK. Christ spoke against it.
I think it's safe to say that Jesus was definition of good... And he did this by being humble, by loving his neighbors, good or bad. By not hating, but forgiving. not by waving his flag, but by preaching with his head down low, without making himself look like some "pope". Problem is, so many people completely fucked it up and make all christians look bad by their completely messed up and twisted views on "what a true christian" is. These fundamental christian right wing wackos are pretty much doing to everyday "good christians" what Extremest muslim terrorists are doing to good muslim families. Making everyone look bad.
