I was just wondering if that was the kind of thing that people were talking about. Everyone on there, save one person, seemed to be all scared and suspicious of the place. I was not shocked in the slightest, bit suspicious at first and then it all made sense to me. What's wrong with this place?
The problem is that people were herded there like cattle, regulated and controlled to the point of insanity, and not allowed to leave. They were essentially prisoners, and their only crime was being put out of their home by Katrina.
But can't you see the necessity of it all? I mean, I remember going into Women's Community House to do volunteer work and for some reason, they seem verry similar. You can't just allow anyone to walk into a camp like that for obvious reasons. Letting people in and out is dangerous because you can have people sneaking things like drugs or weapons in there. It's supposed to be a safe place for people to be outside their homes, but because it's so public, it also has to be tightly controlled because the people who run the place are responsible for everything that happens. If people were hurting eachother, if there was rape or drug trade, people getting sick, people leaving and dying in the streets, people with guns took all the food, some people were eating steaks while others had nothing but camp food...It could all go very wrong very fast and if the governement or FEMA is running this, who will get the blame if the whole place turns to shit? I could understand if all these people had come to the camp by choice for a jolly good time, like a campground. Then, everyone would be happy and nice and there wouldn't be a high risk for problems. And even in that situation, campgrounds always have rules, security and staff to ensure peoples safety and wellbeing. But honestly, desperate times make desperate people and desperate people can quickly become dangerous people and in desperate times like Katrina, this camp is, imo, understandable. Maybe it is a little overboard, but from what I've heard, that's the American way most of the time (jk). The fact that they COULD leave is important to remember Zorba. The article mentioned that people were allowed to leave but weren't allowed to re-enter. They weren't prisoners, they had a choice. Sure, times were bad, and people weren't likely to walk out, because there were very few places to go, but that is far from forcibly keeping them there. Even at many festivals, or events, concerts, whatever, there are rules that say, you leave you can't come back. And it really helps too. People leaving and coming back means they have to be searched AGAIN which takes time away from security staff, it means people who went through the search once know how good it is and how to get stuff inside. It's a risk. I don't know if they were searching people to get into this place but the whole letting them out and letting them back in situation creates the same risk.

People need to think a little more critically. They cannot go to one website -- legitimate or not -- and form their opinions based on such minimal information. There is plenty of information out there for those who want it, but it takes time and effort to research. It's easy to form an opinion by reading one person's take on something. It takes a little more effort to do the research and come to your own informed conclusion based on all the evidence available. When one has done enough research they can seperate the legitimate information from the disinfo that's out there -- and there is a lot of it. So don't tell people to "get over it." I personally find that to be offensive. No, not every emergency shelter set up by FEMA is a "FEMA camp" as most people know them. But first you have to have some understanding about FEMA and how it was established in 1980 by Jimmy Carter out of a series of executive orders and further developed under a program called Rex-84, headed up by Iran-Contra criminal Oliver North. FEMA is a multi-billion dollar black budget operation run by the intelligence agencies and has more power than even the president. It has the power to suspend laws, seize property and food supplies, relocate entire populations, and arrest people and hold them without trial. The real reason for FEMA is far different than one is lead to believe. Yes, FEMA plays a role in natural disasters, but it was really set up to take over from the elected government in the event of a catastrophic emergency where martial law is declared. We have not seen this yet, but it is likely we will see this in the future as FEMA builds and converts more internment camps out of old military bases and warehouses at an unprecedented rate. To understand the true power of FEMA, you must look at their power to implement these following executive orders without any approval of Congress. All the president has to do is declare a national emergecy and then FEMA steps in the as the unelected de facto government. Executive Order Number 12148 created the Federal Emergency Management Agency that is to interface with the Department of Defense for civil defense planning and funding. An "emergency czar" was appointed. FEMA has only spent about 6 percent of its budget on national emergencies. The bulk of their funding has been used for the construction of secret underground facilities to assure continuity of government in case of a major emergency, foreign or domestic. Executive Order Number 12656 appointed the National Security Council as the principal body that should consider emergency powers. This allows the government to increase domestic intelligence and surveillance of U.S. citizens and would restrict the freedom of movement within the United States and grant the government the right to isolate large groups of civilians. The National Guard could be federalized to seal all borders and take control of U.S. air space and all ports of entry. Here are just a few Executive Orders associated with FEMA that would suspend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. These Executive Orders have been on record for nearly 30 years and could be enacted by the stroke of a Presidential pen: EXECUTIVE ORDER 10990 allows the government to take over all modes of transportation and control of highways and seaports. EXECUTIVE ORDER 10995 allows the government to seize and control the communication media. EXECUTIVE ORDER 10997 allows the government to take over all electrical power, gas, petroleum, fuels and minerals. EXECUTIVE ORDER 10998 allows the government to take over all food resources and farms. EXECUTIVE ORDER 11000 allows the government to mobilize civilians into work brigades under government supervision. EXECUTIVE ORDER 11001 allows the government to take over all health, education and welfare functions. EXECUTIVE ORDER 11002 designates the Postmaster General to operate a national registration of all persons. EXECUTIVE ORDER 11003 allows the government to take over all airports and aircraft, including commercial aircraft. EXECUTIVE ORDER 11004 allows the Housing and Finance Authority to relocate communities, build new housing with public funds, designate areas to be abandoned, and establish new locations for populations. EXECUTIVE ORDER 11005 allows the government to take over railroads, inland waterways and public storage facilities. EXECUTIVE ORDER 11051 specifies the responsibility of the Office of Emergency Planning and gives authorization to put all Executive Orders into effect in times of increased international tensions and economic or financial crisis. EXECUTIVE ORDER 11310 grants authority to the Department of Justice to enforce the plans set out in Executive Orders, to institute industrial support, to establish judicial and legislative liaison, to control all aliens, to operate penal and correctional institutions, and to advise and assist the President. EXECUTIVE ORDER 11049 assigns emergency preparedness function to federal departments and agencies, consolidating 21 operative Executive Orders issued over a fifteen year period. EXECUTIVE ORDER 11921 allows the Federal Emergency Preparedness Agency to develop plans to establish control over the mechanisms of production and distribution, of energy sources, wages, salaries, credit and the flow of money in U.S. financial institution in any undefined national emergency. It also provides that when a state of emergency is declared by the President, Congress cannot review the action for six months. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has broad powers in every aspect of the nation.
Okay, yes I beleive I've seen all those orders and whatnot on another site. I don't want to attack, offend or be totally disagreeable with you, but, these things, these orders...are they not, in some way, shape or form, necessary? Example....Nuclear attack, by domestic terror group...INSIDE usa... These orders, will restrictive, while oppressive, while throwing the concept of freedom and rights out the door, make it possible for your government to legally find and take down whoever involved, in a quick manner, as to ensure safety to the rest of the citizens.
