barefooting makes me more aware of sensations on my whole body...

so i've barefooted before, here and there, but just recently i've decided to do it wherever possible... and i've started taking notice of the way things feel. of course, i find it incredibly invigorating to feel the ground under my feet... the contact with my feet on different surfaces is even erotic... i was surprised how my body responded to it.

now, though, i've noticed i feel things more in the REST of my body. the other day i was taking a bath- i don't have a shower here, and use the bath to... well, bathe :) - and after i did the utilitarian stuff of washing my hair, etc. i was about to get out, like i usually do, but i stopped, because my body was resisting... it wanted to stay in the water! so i did something i haven't done for a long time... i sat in the bath and just felt the water on every inch of my skin. maybe this is just me because for a long time i was numb to sensation due to body issues, but i think it's great!

the things we experience when we finally do what feels natural :)

I always have as much of me turned on as I can, and yes, barefooting is a huge part of this. I think I've always been tactile sensitive, so that means occasionally feeling some sensations that are not pleasant. But most feelings are pleasant, and, as you say, mildly erotic. I am blessed that I can feel that way most of the time, wherever I go.

I'm sure some will say that it's not possible to get much work done while feeling mildly aroused, but the key here is mildly, and it actually enhances my enjoyment of all I do, my work, driving, shopping, whatever.

And yes, others have mentioned that sense of "taste" we develop in our feet, a really wonderful sense to have. I really love that.

    Speaking of noticing things...

I had sort of taken an accidental laziness period from going barefoot through July (hot pavement = not fun for me, got up too late in the morning, played tennis at night) and I went for my regular 1 mile route again today.

I loved it (it was about 8:50-9:10 AM), but what I never noticed before is how much work it puts on your calves! My sister commented recently that I have huge calves, and I had never thought about it before, but after not doing it for a while, I realized that it is really a lot more work than using shoes. That's okay with me, though; it keeps my legs in good condition and feels awesome.

I've read somewhere that going barefoot over a variety of surfaces is almost like getting a shiatsu treatment whenever you step. I have to agree. :)

  5. Indeed. I find my calves are far more exercised by barefoot walking than by shod walking. The same area covered leaves me feeling more invigorated (muscularly, sensually) by having done it barefoot.

It makes sense. There are thousands of nerve endings in the feet that are essentially blinded by the wearing of shoes.

They've actually done studies. People who go barefoot have greater blood circulation, more nerve endings in the brain, the list goes on and on. You definitely are a healthier, better person for going barefoot than you are for wearing shoes.

I agree. Going barefoot just "sharpenes" all senses. I think this is because of three reasons:

    1. you are (a bit) more vulnerable than shoed and so you are more attentive, you just get "open eyes" etc.
    2. the natural massage of your soles wakes up your body and all senses (scientificly verified!). or vexample several musicians go on stage barefoot because of this effect.
    3. at least for me going barefoot is a kind of personal freedom that is connected with the non-working part of my life. So if i go barefoot my mind is more open and positive anyway.

And, anyway, it's a gratis fun. So go out and enjoy!

In Frank Herbert's original classic, Dune, warriors are trained to fight barefoot because it gives them certainty of their footing on whatever terrain they find themselves. And in our world how many martial arts are practiced barefoot?

Now, if ancient (and distant future) warriors are most comfortable and effective in their bare feet, why do people have such a hard time taking their shoes off? I just don't get it...

Feet are very sensual parts of the body. I love to go barefoot on as many different surfaces and as many pleasurable experiences as I can.

Yesterday my gram took my sister and I to the at louis mall. The weather was nice and I could feel the warm pavement under my feet. I walked through the damp cool grass where the sprinklers had just been and then back onto the paved sidewalk where my feet were dried and warmed again. I walked into the mall and could feel the cool smooth tiles. then my gram realized I had mo shoes on. She bought me some. And she made me wear them. They were cute earthy thin flip flops. She knew there was no way id wear anything more. but still I longed to feel what was below me every time the surface changed.

  11. And THAT, boys and girls, is WHY we go barefoot---eager to FEEL! I would no more pass up an interesting surface or try a surface at new temps than I would pass up...(lemme see) a Seinfeld episode that I haven't seen 1000 times!

Might sound a big odd but: I'm a person who's very much in my head. Barefooting kinda pulls me out and makes me a good deal more aware of everything going on around me.

Tonight I try and wear my Five Fingers at work. New job, so I've been suffering on really crappy shoes for a week and a half now. Wish me luck. :)
