Alright, bare with me on this one. The gist of the whole situation is that, I know I have to tell my dad that I smoke sometime, because my mom already knows, and I'm putting unfair pressure on her to keep a secret from my dad. I just don't know how to tell him that I have smoked before, even though in all reality, he's smoked weed in his past too. I don't know what to expect when I tell him about smoking, but I wish I would have told him when my mom found out about me smoking, because now if I tell him she knew and didn't tell him, he'll be upset with her no matter what I say. I dunno, I guess this is just a little bit of venting, my stomach's got knots in it because I'm expecting to do it tonight (basically I'm being a pussy ). If any of you have advice to give me or just some similar stories that would calm my nerves that'd be awesome!

ive found that telling parents that youve done something worse and then tell them you smoke pot seems to be a sure fire way
...My parents just kind of KNOW that I smoke. They haven't really done anything about it, my dad found toothpicks with resin on it from when i was cleaning my pipe and he brings them into my room and says "I know what these are from. You shouldn't have one" and then he walked out. lol and this is where it is really funny, he walks back in and asks "Hey, you didn't take my one hitter did you?" I came home one time really high and my mom looks at me and asks "Are you hungry?" I almost burst out laughing but I held it in and I just went to bed.
purp, that's funny shit. you ought to load up your dad's one hitter and leave it where he'll find it, but not where he'll think you were gonna use it. my mom never cared what I did so long as I did it at home. oddly enough, I didn't have a huge need to drink a lot or get blazed or whatever.

Well if you're 20, and he makes a huge deal, just say that you're a responsible adult who has a puff on occasion, kind of like your dad drinks alcohol (if he does drink).
or just pop em both and dont worry about it. maybe slip some cannabutter into the next cake. on a more serious note, if you can generally joke around with your parents alot, brave sir ruben i think has a good plan. other than that, just be straight up with him and tell it how it is. if it is even important. maybe go out to a bar or somewhere that you know people willbe smoking pot at, and bring up a "do you have any buddys that smoke pot" or question about if he used to smoke conversation. then maybe he will ask you the same. i know with my dad, i cant get it through his head no matter what to accept that i smoke and that it is ok.
Yeah I liked Rubin's plan a lot too, but my dad would just get more pissed that I tried to be funny about it. I haven't been able to tell him yet because he's away on business and will be until Wednesday. I don't think he'd be too upset about the fact that I've smoked, I think he'd just be like "yeah well you gotta be careful, just don't do anything stupid" along with that would probably be a "Don't do it again" talk haha. But yeah, I wanna try to keep my mom safe on this whole thing, they don't have a bad relationship at all, I just don't want to cause a problem. So Wednesday he should get the news *gulp* Thanks for all the advice everyone!
i know exactly what you mean, about bein funny about a "serious" issue. haha. And your proposed reaction of your dad, seems all to familiar to the actual reaction my dad had. I didn't tell my parents, they found my weed...I was 19 and away at college, but always left a small stash at home. They found my stash and all the guts from the many blunts I'd rolled. Didn't say anything right away, waited till i came home. Even then, all I got was a "you should be careful, that's stuff illegal. you are risking our jobs by having that in our house" blah blah blah... good luck man, sounds like the hard parts actually gonna be doin it---afterwards you will be relieved...hopefully
Alright the conclusion, I forgot to post it because work's been keepin' me busy lately! But yeah my dad was smoking a ciggarette out on the balcony and I asked him "Hey how long have you been smoking" and said since he was 15 then I asked if he'd ever smoked "other things" (lol my actual question) and he said that yes he had. Then I took a deep breath and spilled it! He was really cool about it! He said that it's something that isn't addictive, but he knows my personality and how I get with things and said to be really careful. Then he said "I know this was probably a big step for you son, but I have to tell you, I already knew, your mother told me when she caught you." HAHAHAH I started laughing pretty hard when I heard that and he chuckled a bit too, but then he got all serious again and said "Your mother is not very pleased about this, and I know we can't stop you if you want to do it, but we both feel that you shouldn't anymore, but above all NEVER in the house again, or if you do, don't be a dumbass and get caught by your mother again or she'll get pissed!" Oh man, my mom is a sneaky one, but I'm kinda glad he knew all along, kinda pissed she lied about not telling him but that's just a minor detail, plus I can't get mad at her for telling the truth to her husband, I shouldn't have even asked her to keep it a secret! Well thank you all for easing my tension a little bit before I went through with it, and I am VERY relieved, nothing like smoking a stress-free blunt the day after!
Why do you have to tell your father you smoke? I mean if he either assumes it or doesn't. Would you tell your parents when you started having sex. Hey dad! Guess what!?!?! I'm fucking the shit out of my girlfriend! Fuck yea son, let's go smoke a blunt!
