I think the topic of free running (or parkour) barefoot has been brought up briefly before, but Youtube recommended this video to me last night and I thought it was worth sharing with the group. I have seen a lot of free running videos, but seeing this kid expressing such freedom of movement and strength from being barefoot was very inspiring. That boy must have some incredible soles!

That dude needs to seriously be in a movie! Barefoot, of course! I could see him running from the cops or from an angry boyfriend defending his girl's honor. Or perhaps he could be the angry boyfriend.

Well, if you can do that barefoot you can do anything barefoot. The shoe industry doesn't want you to know that though.

    That kid is incredible!

I do run barefoot. I actually started when I realized everyone who I met in their 40's in my friend's cycling club used to be runners. But, they stopped due to knee injuries and switched to cycling.

I was like "hmmmm, there has to be a reason for this."

I switched, first, to those Vibram Classic shoes. And now I just go barefoot. What they say is true - your whole gait, and the placement of your feet totally changes. It's easier to run, and the impact is much lower. I love it. Will never go back to shoes again.

However, I am NOTHING like this kid. I can run in a straight line, lol. That's about it. I want to be able to do what he does. It's so amazing.

Isn't that the truth? I'm not a runner, but I've read a website for barefoot running, which basically states that running barefoot greatly reduces injuries to the feet, knees, hips and back, especially if one follows the proper running form. I'd post the website link here, but since I'm new to these forums, I'm not sure if that would be appropriate.

No, do it..I'd really like to see it.

If it has to do with discussion, and is informative and whatnot, it's totally with the rules.

OK, cool! :) Here's the website link to running barefoot:

The guy who owns the website lives here in SoCal and goes EVERYWHERE barefoot. Enjoy!
