I think its people's god given right to be able to go barefoot where they want and they shouldnt have to put shoes on because some stuck up prude has some emotional, political or religious issues with it, its none of their damned business and people need to learn to get a little bit of a backbone and not let stupid little things bother them. Bare feet only bother people if those people let it bother them. People wear sandals and tank tops into restaurants all the time and its almost the same thing and that doesnt stop anyone from eating so i dont see what the damned point is. Just live and let live and get on with life for cryin out loud.

People own restaurants, and if they don't want to let people in with no shoes they don't have to....I don't think hippy feet and food go very well together, especially in a nice establishment.

It shouldn't be a big deal, just put on some shoes

I didn't know you fucking pussies could get so angry. Feet are dirty, they walk on the ground, there is stuff lving between your toes.

Whats next, you are going to want to go to a restaurant with you ass hanging out?

this isn't 60's and i was referring to an establishment meaning "place of business"

Who cares whose side you are on, they still aren't going to let you into a nice restaurant with out shoes , except maybe some places in Africa.

    I win, you suck.

99% of [people eating in restaurants don't want to see dumbasses who are strangley too proud to put on shoes eating next to them, therefore the owner has a right not to let someone in without them.

Its not like discriminting against someone because of race, just put on some fucking shoes.

I'm 32, and know when it is and isn't appropriate to wear shoes....17 year olds should be at the same level

Babies don't know when to wear shoes, most socialized people can figure that out.

it is sad, because I don't think people should be able to go anywhere they want barefooted, i cry every night...then i get up, go to my good job, come home, hang with my wife, go play some music...

but then i return, and cry, because they won't let me into a 5 star restaurant with my feet hanging out.....

I would imagine you can't go into shops etc barefoot these days for legal reasons. If someone treads on glass or something and injures themselves then there'll be big money to pay.

So much for "don't criticize/make fun of others to justify yourself."

You obviously don't know the first thing about what you're talking about. If you did, you'd know that people DO stand in the way of us freely barefooting when and where we choose -- and they "back it up" with bullshit lies about laws that don't exist, anc bullshit claims that it's any dirtier or unsanitary than wearing shoes that haven't been washed in months, if ever. To correct you: we ARE up against "oppression." People trying to make us live in a way that is not how we want to.

Dude, I wonder if you ever bother to look at what you're typing; or maybe the problem is you really are as pathetically bad at spelling, grammar and typing as it seems here.

    - You don't know how to use "your" and "you're"
    - You don't know how to use "to" and "too"
    - You don't know to put an apostrophe in "im" to make "I'm," nor do you capitalize a proper noun like "I"
    - you spelled "sensitive" with a C!

You should be alerted that all of that, to an educated person, makes it very very hard to take anything you say seriously. If you're not bright enough to get that simple stuff right, how intelligent could your theories and views about other stuff be??

It's not as sad as it is funny how you think you're smart, but write and express yourself as abysmally as you do.

    You and only you.
It's funny, you say "no one is trying to run your lives," but we can prove it that they are every time they tell us some bullshit bogus reason why we're not allowed in somewhere because we're barefoot. I suppose you could say that no one was doing anything wrong to tell blacks they couldn't use certain water fountains. Then they were doing even less wrong when they provided special "colored only" water fountains, right? How is it not unreasonably "trying to run our lives" to lie to us and prevent us from being free to go places just because we're barefoot? I brought up the black civil rights issue to ask you if you think that all people who are fighting for their rights are pathetic and making mountains out of molehills.

    "I seen this"?

    You talk like a moron.

How can anyone take you seriously when you sound like someone who never got past second grade?

What part of, "We frequently are kicked out of establishments for the sole reason of being barefoot" do you not understand? You keep saying "no one is keeping us from doing it" as though your saying so will make us forget having ACTUALLY been kept from being free to go barefoot in all kinds of places.

Do you think my memory of being kicked out of Denny's and Walmart will go away if you say, "No one really gives a shit if u go barefoot or not"?

And why don't you try typing in regular fucking English if you want to be taken seriously, instead of looked at like a juvenile because you write with this bullshit "u" crap, and can't figure out punctuation? Is it just because you're a typical fuckin' lazy teenager or because you just don't know the stuff?

    You're irrational.
There is nothing grosser about my feet, which are washed and scrubbed EVERY SINGLE DAY, being in a restaurant where you, I, and other people are eating. If you think it's gross, consider how long it's been since you or anyone you run into at a restaurant has washed his shoes. My feet come no nearer to your food than your shoes come to mine, so your complaint is idiotic.

Do you have the same problem with a woman wearing high heeled shoes into a fancy restaurant, you moron? HER feet have "stuff living between her toes" too, and between her soles and the cushions of her shoes, too. And someone's expensive italian loafers "walk on the ground," too. Germy? A danger to your food? Yeah, sure. So much less than bare feet would be.

You have to be a moron to believe the shit you're saying, either that or a complete troll.

"It shouldn't be a big deal, just put on some shoes"?

FUCK YOU! Who the fuck are you to tell us that the answer to our problems is to just do as YOU say?! My answer to you is, "It shouldn't be a big deal, just mind your own motherfuckin' business. My feet aren't an issue to you."

Or, we could assume that the legal system is not full of incompetents, and it would be rightly recognized that a person going barefoot must accept certain risks, and among them are stepping on glass and other hazards that could cause injury to the feet.

What makes you think that a court would side with a barefooter who had to know what he was risking by walking around everywhere barefoot?

I know the risks, and I accept them. And if I cut myself on a floor somewhere because there was a tack or a nail or a shard of glass -- I'll heal, and I won't sue, because it's my responsibility. I could have worn shoes, but prefered not to, and I got cut. Everyone understands that, and therefore there IS no real "legal reason" for businesses to fear lawsuits about this. And apart from that, if they really wanted to protect themselves, they could post signs that say, instead of "no bare feet," "bare feet enter at own risk." That would make it even clearer in favor of the business owner.

Its nothing like being a child molester....Its just nothing to form a "group" over....
I'm not trying to be an extremist here, but if I see a barefooter in a restaurant I am going to stomp on their foot with steel toed work boots, punch them in the face, break a bottle and slit their throat, take them out back and beat them with a baseball bat, give them a bad tattoo on thier face while they are passed out, then bring them back into the restaurant wearing their hemp sandles.

What I dont get is that you all go on about freedom and stuff, but when it comes to anyone challenging anything you deem to be 'a right' you get defensive and this shit happens, where it descends into bitchy arguments...

The irony is the freedom you demand for going barefoot, is the exact freedom you deny others when they question your lifestyle choice!

Everyone who's stubbed their toe or trodden on a piece of glass knows the risks, but that doesn't stop people from denying their own responsibility. Sadly you are the exception these days and not the norm.

I've just got to say this thread is getting more and more hilarious, keep it up guys, I'm laughing my arse off here! :D :D

The person who started this thread wondered about our obsession with being barefoot -- I'll bet I'm not the anyone who has wondered about society's obsession with shoes.

Bare feet just feel so much better to some of us, so natural. I've been pretty much completely barefoot for close to 5 years. Before that, I was barefoot most but not all of the time. The bottoms of my feet have grown leathery protection, tougher than some shoes in spots, and on those rare occasions when I get a piece of glass stuck in my sole, the calluses & leathery-tough-skin block it from going in too deeply.

So it's not an obsession, my curious brothers and sisters, it's just doing what comes naturally!

    Happy Barefooting!
