If you don't like the way shes presenting the issue, you can call it sophomoric, stupid, call her vitriolic, say her position detracts from the argument, or ignore it completely and talk about the issue.

I always try to go for the latter. Otherwise it's a logical fallacy. And again, I didn't see anything wrong or particularly vitriolic about her position.

I'm disasociating myself from these sentiments.

Does she (the woman in the video) have a point?

I think her point was that not allowing public health clinics to use a physicians health care philosophy as a grounds for determining their tenure would put patients at risk and provide them with a lower quality of healthcare.

I can't watch the video either, but the description someone gave in this thread tells me that the woman was angry that Bush wouldn't stop doctors who don't believe in birth control from being hired. In other words, doctors who think their religious beliefs trump your health and rights.

I'd call that a valid point.

Main point: "Federally-funded health clinics cannot refuse to hire people (general staff) who are against abortion."

And, "Abortion is defined so broadly it could apply to certain contraceptives."

Sounds like splitting hairs to me. She calls it "sneaky move" but I don't see how Planned Parenthood is going to not give women contraceptives because of it.

She's a New Yorker too.

What made you post this odon? Just curious.

I didn't think she was a bitch or anything. Maybe a little affected, but it's hard not to be affected on video.

That's the other thing, I just listened to the video for the third time:

This is a PROPOSED "rule" (I imagine she means Bush was lobbying law-makers) "last month."

Which means the "rule" probably didn't go through.

Ugh. These Bush-hating people are so annoying. But, they get paid to split hairs so...

By splitting hairs I mean that what she's talking about has absolutely no practical consequences to women's right to contraceptives or abortions.

She's just found another reason to make a punching bag out of Bush because that's what she does for a living.

Sure would suck for someone in bum fuck Idaho to need to drive across state to get Orthotricyclen because it was federally mandated by the president so.

She might as well get knocked up.

But there are already numerous issues to do with women's reproductive rights that exist currently. So you ignore these?

    I can understand that.

And yet the video doesn't make it clear if anything was actually federally mandated or not.
