I've got some vicodin that just expired a week ago. Is it still safe to take? I'm not looking to OD or even use it recreationally, really. I was just wondering if I could still take it as a painkiller (the way it was intended, what a concept, lol). I've had it since last July when I got my wisdom teeth out.

Vics live for a while, but I had some perks once they was like 5yrs old and they made me sick, but there was 40 of them so that might of had something to do with it..:D

from my experience expired pills might just not be as potent as fresh pills.

I don't know what y'all are talking about sayin percs expire, like I've said before , I've had percadan ( oxycodone) from 1988 that had the cap off the whole time, and was growing fungus or some type of shit on it. I just wiped it off , and got high as shit, and no sickness. I didn't notice any decrease in potency either. This was in 2005. So 17 years after they were prescribed.

When do they turn toxic? My Vicos expired in 2001, and my dihycrocodeine expired in 99.

Then again my Accutane from my doc was expired in 2000 and it worked like a charm....
