Ok, so I've heard frequently here that Dr. Bronners is THE shampoo to use on your hair due to its organic and residue-free nature. But I have some questions.

First off, three stores I went to said they did not carry Dr. Bronners, but they did have Main and Tail (I saw someone on here who used it before), and I'm wondering if it is a suitable alternative. In case it wasn't I went to the Bronners website to order some, but they labeled their hair products as conditioners, which confused me -- so just to be safe I wanted to check with the dread'sperts ;)

Next question is about the washing itself. My dreadlings just turned a week, and though they're holding together, they are incredibly fragile. I've held off washing them for the whole week (I got shower caps, lol) and did the salt-spray last night followed by a rinse. I didn't go all out for a wash, because I feared the "washing motions" would undo them a lot. Any advice as to how to wash them while doing the least damage?

A picture of them at 5 days for an idea of just how small they are:

Don't wash em for a while then. Whenever you feel it's necessary then go ahead, but the key thing to remember is whenever YOU feel it is time. When I first started my dreadies it was winter, so I wore a wool beenie fairly often (that'll help), plus I didn't wash em for like 1 1/2 to 2 weeks, then didn't really wash to often after that, mainly to get my hair to slowly naturally produce less and less grease.

But Dr. Bronners is great, I love it...plus it's great to use as an entire body wash, just so refreshing.

Sooner or later you'll need to wash so what I do, cause mine are fragile too, is rinse my hair and put soap everywhere just not rubbing too much and rinse out after, and don't rub the towel on your head when you dry your hair, that do the trick for me.
