~*Goodbye Dear Friend*~ By: Moonjava I've known you for years Through laughter and tears We shared dreams, we shared fears We shared drugs, Beer and hugs. And while you fell in love, I fell short. "I'm just not ready, We can't go steady." That's what my heart said. So I looked for a sign from above, Thinking one day I would magically fall in love. Now years have flown by You're a U.S. Marine, Getting to experience things most have never seen. You sleep next to my picture, So you can kiss me goodnight. And you yearn to buy your ticket To take that next flight, Wishing so much that it wasn't round-trip. There's none better than you You're honest, you're true. Hard-working, Good-looking, The proud, the few. And for reasons that I don't comprehend, But maybe some day I will know, I'm at a point now, Where I must let you go.
hmm I like it and everything but I'm not loving the last stanza, it just doesn't flow as well as the rest of the poem in my opinion.
