The problem with modern day christians is this.

They are followers of satan, satan wrote the bible and is using it as a weapon against you.

Alright it goes like this, in the book of revelations, it says that satan will bring upon a new religion that everyone will start believing. I think its capitalistic Christianity. Christianity changed dramatically from its simplest form over time. The bible, which modern christians believe is the word of god, which i believe is the word of satan, has been rewritten many times. If its the word of god, and god is perfection, then why does it need to be rewritten? Satan did it. lol

There's another explanation. The Bible was written, not by God or Satan, but by a variety of men trying to explain the divine nature and will but, understandably, not getting it quite right or complete. You've heard the story of the blind men trying to describe an elephant in term of the particular appendage each came in contact with. I think the Bible is like that--a source of rich spiritual insights but requiring reason, intuition and common sense to sift it out of a confusing hodgepodge of writings by well-intentioned men with a variety of personal perspectives and agendas.

I was using the book of revelations against the bible. Not the bible against the bible. But both sources cant be proven true.

 

Well we do know that king james edited the bible ages n ages ago and in the bible it says whoever adds or takes anything out will be cursed etc... so your not far from wrong there.

The un-king james version of the bible is a holy book, satan did not write it.

Indeed there is another explanation for things Mr Obiefeak. You put the best possible gloss on things, which is a credit to your faith. However was the bible the product of well intentioned group of more or less blind men, or was it the work of cunning propagandists such as Luke for example.

After all it was written by people and not by your God as you did mentioned.

 

Some theorize that the author of Revelations ( John I think ) was under the influence of psychedelic plants during his exile in Greece. (it was Greece right?)

Anyway, the Bible was written by many people. Some of whom had a special pen name just to use to write their part that was contributed. We don't even know if half of those people ever acually existed. Not to mention the banned books and the fact that it was written in several languages like latin and aramaic which is damn near impossible to translate nowadays, so think about how difficult it was to translate a thousand years ago. Plus it was written in ancient Greek, a language that has reinvented itself 5 times since that period in human history.

The Bible is full of contridictions, like any other religioust text. But it's also probably full of mis-translations and missing parts that straight up couldn't be translated at the time.

 

The problem is simple: Modern Christianity (especially Protestant, Evangelical Christianity) is based on almost entirely on belief. There seems to be no definitive compulsion to understand, or think, or behave any differently. There is no monitored, guided, program of study, no requirement for the "born again" to change or even examine their relationship to Humanity or God or reality, no requirement for any active intellectual involvement at all, only a statement of belief. All you have to do is believe in Jesus and you can call yourself a Christian.

Since no measurable realization is required, "Belief in Jesus" can mean anything. Such belief does not necessarily correspond to any disciplined understanding, to any cognative or intellectual process. Christianity becomes an erroneously applied title for whatever one believes, however unfounded it may be in anything Jesus' actually taught. However antithetical it may be to the ideals Jesus lived, taught and died for.

So, according to modern, Protestant, Evangelical Christianity, you don't have to understand, or think, or behave any differently, your sins are justified by your beliefs. You can believe whatever makes you feel good and call it Christianity.
