I was walking around madison, WI at night this weekend with my girlfriend, and all of the sudden a bat flew right by my head and i ducked like "whoa.. wtf?" and then it flew right into a shop window. i went to look at it and it was just laying on the ground with its wings all folded over itself. it was twitching around, i think it was probly stunned but it might have died. it looked really cool, but i thought what the fuck? because i know bats have incredible sonar systems called echolocation and they should be able to know if there is a big surface like a window in front of them... anyone know anything about bats? it was real weird
I know i found a bat swimming around in my uncles pool.I was awesome i was screeching an flaping so i picked it up and threw it and it flew away.bats are awesome
but im just confused as to how it didn't detect a freaking window in front of its face!? their sonar noises should easily bounce off it
Bats are very prone to rabies. Sometimes when they act funny like that, it's a sign that they're infected. He also might've just been having an off-night. Maybe he had a cold. Poor little bugger. Doesn't sound good.
I learned last night that the many bats who seem to go right for my head on my balcony and neighborhood actually are looking for insects that I might be kicking up/attracting by walking The rabies idea sounds plausible
By attracting just one bat, you can rid your yard of 3,000-7,000 insects each night. Buy or build a bat box and set it up outside for nighttime pest control.
