Do you think we will see an "October Surprise" this final month leading up to elections? If so, what do you think it might be? A couple of the more popular scenarios are: The capture of Osama bin Laden. WMD's magically found in Iraq. Another "terrorist" attack. Elections postponed or suspended due to a "Red Alert". The opening of a new war front, etc..

Of course it's all speculation, but do you have a feeling something big will happen before elections, in an attempt to sway the votes or postpone/cancel the election?

Or do you think will it be an uneventful month?

    Opinions? Theories? Wild guesses? Gibberish?

I think it will be an uneventful month. Although I could be wrong- tis just what I think. I think Dudya is already far enough ahead and the fear they are driving into American's or actually, I should prolly say.... the bringing out the fears of Americans and making them think that ONLY Bush can keep us from other attacks... will prolly be enough.

I think the people in charge know that this will be enough and the bigger things to happen... will wait, until they are actually needed.

Who knows what they have up their sleeves.....

But don't you guys think that would be an obvious tactic? If something happened like that, wouldn't people be suspicious? I would.

Someone posted this a while back and it still interests me...

    http://www.1funny.com/presidential.shtml

Basically what it says is that every president elected on a year with a zero after it was either Assasinated, Died in Office, ar had an attempt on their life (Reagan), Bush was elected in 2000, so his assasination could be this "october suprise", and from what I hear, even people in his own administration want him out.

    Peace and Love,
    Dan

I have been thinking they will "find" Osama. That's why Bush and Dick don't say anything why they get attacked about losing him in the first place. I've never seen a response to that question yet - they just kind of smirk when it gets mentioned. Kind of like "oh yeah idiot we really have him, we're just waiting to release the info until just before the election." Who knows though?

I wouldn't be surprised what-so-ever if they "suddenly" caught bin-Laden. Nothing that pompus, no-good jackass does surprises me .. unless he'd say he led US into a wrong war and resigns.

The republicans have something up their sleeve.

You know, if Osama happend to appear in October, wouldn't that be a good thing, people complain about how Bush took focus away from Osama and how we lost the chance to get him, but if he turns up in our hands, well that jst proves Bush right.

I'm guessing either they 'miraculously' capture bin laden (probably already have him, or he is working for them to begin with! ) or there is another 'attack' and bush declares a state of emergency or some such, postponing the elections and making the U.S. a police state. one of those two.

Yeah, Andrew mentioned it a while back that he thought we'd already captured bin laden and were just waiting to let it out for the elections...He was pretty sure of that too. Dunno if he still thinks that, or if he thinks anything else. I dunno, I kinda think we might get attacked again.

I hate to call any of it an October Surprise, because I've had this uneasy feeling that one or more of these things will happen. The surprise will be if it doesn't happen.

overall, it may seem we Americans aren't a terrbly bright bunch .. but if Osama "suddenly" turned up a week before the election, however a good thing it would be ... I think we would smell a rat and question the timing of it.

I'd like to think they wouldn't be so obvious about it, but then again we are talking about america here. Most people wouldn't see it for what it is.

This admin will certainly NOT pull out of Iraq. Not with the establishment of 14 permanent military installations long planned as the nexus of our PNAC neo-colonialist base of control for the region.

The peak oil agenda this invasion has served from day one (despite the lies and PR to the contrary) will not relinquish our dominance however many of our boys (and patriotic Iraqi civilians - aka "terrorists" for daring to fight against illegal invasion and occupation of THEIR sovereign land) have to be slughtered in the process.

maintaining a permanent military sword of damocles over another sovereign state whether actively engaged or or merely resident amounts to the same recognisable control issues against which the Iraqis are fighting in the first place.

    1. Since the neo-cons certainly will not "pull out" entirely from the country, nor ever admit the truth of their agenda which seeks to repeat such shortsighted neo-colonialism as soon as more bodies can be forced into service...

    AND

    2. Since the Democrats (equally the creatures of corporate control and finance) would do little more than maintain the current status quo (i.e. let the permanent presence issue stand) whilst simply shelving the PNAC agenda until the public has gone to sleep again in 4 to 8 years (when the neo-cons would return to power on the heels of another fabricated "terrorist" event).

Nothing beyond simple window dressing is going to change re: our activities in Iraq.
