:( Every morning my 2 year old daughter trys to poop, but she can't. Eventually she gets some poo out little by little. I have asked her doctor about this, but she just said to feed her green things and juice, but it doesnt really work.

Does anyone know of somthing I can do?

I dont feed her a lot of cheese of anything that will stop her up. I have no clue what it is? Could this turn serious? She has been like this for a week or so.
Also, it's not usually really hard poo. Sometimes it is loose.

    Thanks a bunch!!!!!!!!!

Brown Cow makes some and its so good it can help with the inner body. I think honey helps also the kind from the bees. I hope I can help some love Honey.

Ex-Lax should do the trick. And rather quickly I might add.

a lot of kids have issues with pooing.... they hold it in because they're uncomfortable or scared to do it. ask your doctor about it, i know a lot of moms who encounter that problem with their toddlers, but it obviously fixes itself eventually, ...after a bit of "it's okay to let it go" talk, i suppose.

    good luck =)

    Hi-ya
Coconut milk is yummy and a natural laxative (works quick like coffee so be prepared!!)
Fiber for regularity-- bananas, applesauce, whole grain toast
so a bowl of whole grain cereal with coconut milk and sliced bananas should be the bomb, nyuck nyuck

Get a second opinion. Doctors usually suck. At least that is my experience.

I like the prune juice and fiber ideas black currant juice works too, but be careful as with all laxative type things her bowels could get addicted to it and eventually need it before she could poop- If you are giving her a balanced diet she'll regulate eventually, maybe she needs to relax when she is going? she could be tensing up too much and has not learned to relax the right muscles to go.

Only one of my kids had had constipation issues. She is sensitive to red dyes and got her first constipation attack at 7 months, when I was giving her baby Motrin to help with the pain. I ordered some special non dye motrin and it was better. However, Sage was so sick, I had to give her an enema. Only once. I learned to keep her on some prune juice after that. Kids should not be given enemas without a doctor examiniing them, as they can cause damage in certain babies with certain conditions.

Is your girl just starting the potty? Some kids will hold stool when they really don't want to and or are afraid to use the potty. The solution then is to put the diaper back on and let them poo in that.

maybe a little tummy/back massage would help get things moving down there

Well, I called her doctor on Tuesday, and they said to give her Milk of Magnesia, so, tat night I was going to go pick some up, and she finally ended up going before I could get it. YAY! but, today she is still having problems. We have been working on using the potty, but not much. I dont think she is just holdig it in because she is scared, because we have just been working on peeing in the potty. and, we havent done that much. I think I will keep her away from the potty for a while longer just to be safe.
She is still trying as hard as she can, so maybe she just cant figure out how to let it go. I think I will go pick up some prune juice tonight and see if I can get her to go. I dont really want to give her somthing OTC that she could get hooked on, but if I have to I will.
    poor little thing!

    Thanks for all the help!!!!!!!!

My daughter had someting similar when she was around 2ish, she wasn't ever constipated but when she needed to go she would stand up and really clench her bum cheeks together to stop it, but after a few times of doing this she would just have to go, with loads of encouragement and getting her to sit on the pot!! I found raisins and dried fruit worked quite well with her. Hope your little darling has her poo prob done with soon, good luck!

You should never give a toddler Ex-Lax or any thing like it. I am not exactly sure what ingredeant it is, but to children it is very harmful...

My nephew is two and having the same problem. Do you feed your daughter a lot of milk? My brother gives my nephew a lot of milk and the doc says that's what did it to him. A regular diet has been my call all along. Prune juice doesn't seem to work for Jake and neither does fruit and such. I think the health food store is the best bet. Natural laxatives.
