Everyone understands the appeal of pickups to men, similar to cowboys and horses in the Old West, and minivans to soccer moms. But I am curious as to the appeal of Volkwagens and Mini Coopers to women. I work at a car wash and see many cars and the people driving them and many of the people coming in with VW's and Mini's seem to be women. "This is humiliating. Feel like a freakin' soccer mom!" Dean Winchester said while driving a minivan in need of an overhaul in the Supernatural episode "Everyone Loves a Clown" after the Impala was wrecked at the end of Season One.
As much as I'd woulda liked to get a pickup, price of gas and environment makes it a big no. I wouldn't care too much about what I drive, usually I'm just fine with walking, biking and bussing it anyways. There's already too many vehicles on the road, I don't need the added expenses. I think a lot of it has to do with the "typical" look for guys and women. Guys are supposed to be seen in the bigger, louder vehicles, while women are seen to be in the smaller ones, with the exception being price(the pricier the car, the less it matters who's driving it). I don't really know why. I just think it's about appearances.
