    1.
    I was given a very thick piece of San Pedro. I'll weigh it tomorrow, but I'm guessing at least 5 pounds. I know people usually think in terms of inches, but that seems more imprecise than weight ... I'm guessing 5# would be a stout trip for 2 people. Can anyone tell me?

    I posted the following a couple of days ago and one person gave a good guess, but he is also relatively new at San Pedro.

    Has anyone done this or does anyone have an opinion about how it might work?

    Boil fresh San Pedro (skinned & cored) slices for 3-4 hours with some lemon juice.

    Squeeze the mush and get all the liquid out through a strainer.

    Put the liquid in trays in my Nesco dehydrator and dehydrate at 125 for 6-10 hours. The Nesco uses heat and a small fan to dehydrate.

    What would the outcome be do you think? Thanks

    Thanks severely. However, the quote is about inches, not weight. Since some 12" pieces will be 3" in diameter and some 5", there just is no way to judge or compare the two. So my question was/is, does anyone have any data based on weight?

    There is so much vague and conflicting information here. For example, in one place ancient powers says use the the skin, while others say the skin should be discarded. Is there any definitive post on San Pedro on this forum?

    Thanks, b1

    8 oz (226 gms) whole, unpeeled, fresh cactus == 270 mg mescaline
    12 oz (340 gms) whole, unpeeled, fresh cactus == 400 mg mescaline

    2-2.5" dia fresh unpeeled ~= 1.5 oz/in
    3.5-4" dia fresh unpeeled ~= 3.5 oz/in

    16 oz. fresh cactus ~= 3 oz. fibrous pith
    + 6 oz. white tissue
    + 6 oz. green tissue
    + 1 oz. skin and spines.
    12 oz. fresh cactus == 1 oz. dried (+ 7/8 oz. peel).
    1 oz. dried cactus == 2 slightly heaping Tbs cactus granules
    4 oz. fresh cactus == 5/8 C chopped.

    EXCELENTE! Thank you Peace & Rasta. Exactly what I needed - which is a pretty nice thing, you know, to get what you need.

    About 33mg/ounce, so 14-16 ounces should be righteous.

    Any thoughts on this idea: Boil fresh San Pedro (skinned & cored) slices for 3-4 hours with some lemon juice. Squeeze the mush and get all the liquid out through a strainer. Put the liquid in trays in my Nesco dehydrator and dehydrate at 125 for 6-10 hours. The Nesco uses heat and a small fan to dehydrate.

    Thanks
