Posting your age...

Before I went outside to smoke up, I came up with a qestion I'd very much like to pose...It came from me, and how I didn't want to post my age because I've discrimination in here because of it...and then I saw someone else on the forums with my same age adn thought I might as well put it up...they can judge all they want...but then, I suddenly changed my mind against it again...

Anyways, does anyone else have any quandrys about posting their real age, or did it never seem like an issue?

I'm not trying to hide that I'm 22, but I don't have it up for the same reason I don't post pics or state where I live. even though many people here know my name, know what I look like and know personal details about my life, and I'm fine with that.

You're right tho zen, I mean, even today I was thinking abouthow easily a stalker or a freak could find me if they wanted, I have posted WAY too much info up along with pictures...bah...I'mma end up in a dumpster somewhere...

 

If the stalker wanted you it would simply use the information you give by simply being here and posting here to locate you.

 

I could care less about what some people think of my private info, they need to know that Idaho isn't ALL bad and that SOME of us under twenty have a brain.

 

that sounds slightly paranoiac, but I'm kind of the same way. I like as much anonymity as possible, but it's a remote hypothetical chance that anyone is reading and keeping track of your posts.

Doesn't it bother anyone, that just by being here, you can be found by pretty much anyone....Well, okay, I'm being so paranoid right now...Jeez. What are the chances unless there's already someone after you..and who the hell would that be anyways?

Oh well...back to the age thing...do you guys think it's fair when you sometimes see discrimination based on age in here though?

if it seriously bothers you, why do you have what I assume is a picture of yourself in your sig? that makes it 50,000 times more likely that someone from your real life will recognize you.
I mean, this website is very much in the public eye. many times when I looked something up on google a hipforums page would happen to appear near the top.

For some reason I feel like I should be more careful and cautious and whatnot but honestly, well, it's life and life only just like my sig and maybe I just don't know what I need to do here, but I'll continue on doing my thing on here, and let it lead to my own mistakes, and then I'll learn whether the details were a good idea or not...

 

Not at all, I might only be 17 but I have brains enough to look into deeper thought... And although I failed most of my classes throughout school and dropped out to get a G.E.D. I still consider myself smart. Wanna hear something funny? The only reason I was able to go onto the next grade was because my I.S.A.T.(differently named for different states) scores were exceptionally high. Now this drop out is considering a major in journalism.
