I was just thinking about how close Christmas is, and noticed that my mother has already started her preperations. As I remembered past years enjoying the yuletide spirit, I also remembered how FUCKING PSYCHO my mom goes every year. You see, she wants her Christmas to be the best. She bakes the sweets, decorates the house, plans the family affairs, and cudos to her for taking on the job. But every year her stress level gets way too high. If something is not going well, you don't want to be around. It almost makes the coming of Christmas a little tainted. So to all you ladies with families, I'd like to say, remember to relax! It's great if you want to do these thingas for your family, but please, mind your temper. Don't drive your family nuts. Remember that it's just a superficial holiday (yes I know it's religious, please nobody yell at me for that, cause it is superficial as well), and it's supposed to be fun before it's perfect. That said, I'm also really sick of the material aspect of Christmas. It was cool when I was young, but now it just seems like we're wasting our money on pointless gifts which just wind up being more clutter in the house. It's especially stupid cause half the gifts people get, they don't really like, and there are alot of people out there not getting anything. This year I'm just getting everyone gift certificates. Each lady gets one to the spa, and each man gets one to the steakhouse. No clutter, pure enjoyment. This is gonna be the best Christmas ever!
My mom always waited till the last minute for everything But I hate HATE going out to anywhere store wise around Christmas time..people are crazy and will trample you
Your family should do what mine does, we all go shopping together pick out what we want, whoever is getting the gift buys it and wraps it, and there ya go. Then we get extra suprises, and those usually consist of what the person kept looking at in the store, but didn't get. Yep, oh and we only decorate the tree, which is fake. Takes 5 minutes, and we don't cook for Christmas, that's what distant relatives are for.
People in my family usually ask for CD's and movies and such, this year if there's something someone really wants i'll try and get it for them, otherwise I'm making my presents. My mom freaks out at any holiday, but my brother comes home and he jokes around and makes her laugh in the middle of her crying
I buy a bunch of random stuff for people throughout the year, and by the time the holiday season comes around, I've forgotten where most of it is and who I bought it for, which sucks.... but I usually just make up a new recipient. I don't decorate much.... it think it's kind of tacky and annoying. Everyone already knows it's Christmas! You don't have to remind them!
I have 4 kids so Christmas is all about TOYS! And I do enjoy toy-shopping in recent years, my family and friends have started to depend on me to cook Everybody figures I have the most kids and the most to move so it is "just easier" to all come to my house........WTF? Easier for who? My cramped apartment, trying to find places for people to sleep, dealing with the " is that pork? I don't eat pork" people Not to mention that everyone leaves and I'm left with a big ole mess truthfully, its worth it. I love Christmas My favorite part is my tree.....*sigh* its so pretty. I've spent years and alot of money making it beautiful. Me and the kids put it up after Thanksgiving. Once they are sleep, I cut off all the lights, turn on the tree, and stare at it. For some reason, it reminds me just how great my life really is
