We get a surprising number of Japanese tourists here, taking pictiures of odd things like the High Street and the shopping centre:confused:hehe

Rare to find anyone from the UK on holiday here though!
Oh and Bath really was disappointing, seemed to be nothing there

I go to avebury in wiltshire. Mainly for the sabbats, but the company's good and I have a lot of friends there. Plus the place has a habit of trying to keep me there. Whenever I try to leave it seems to rain, really hard. Weird. If not for determination I'd be there now.

No. It is pebbly. Great for skimming stones across the ocean, bad for the souls of your feet. You will have to bring your own sand.

Additional: At low tide it is possible to see a set of rail tracks from the old stilt boat thingy.

Not sure to be honest. It was kind of near Cirencester and yeah it was past Gloucester.

And about Cirencester, you make a valid point....It was a Roman town so probably has something to do with them. Damn Romans. :toetap05:

I live in Brighton so I feel like I'm on holiday all year round. I can see the sea from my window as I type this. There is sand on the beach but you only see it when the tide's out, so you have to be quick with them sandcastles. We've not been having a great summer so far though, today is cloudy and looks set to stay like that.

My favourite place for going away on holiday is probably Crete, where I just got back from. There's so much to see and do there, I have to keep gong back year after year. I also like going to Scotland.

Im off to dorset in about 2 weeks time. Swanage to be exact. Anyone got any good ideas for places to visit that are say within 30 mins and at most an hour from there?

Have never really explored the south of england before so its all going to be really new for me :)

My favourite holiday destination so far has been Borneo. Climbing Mount Kinabalu and watching the sunrise from the top must have been the best moment.
A close second favourite is Taroko Gorge and Sun Moon Lake in Taiwan.

Swanagae is lovely! There's loads round there, monkey world, Poole, ooh shell bay is a piece of heaven (not the nudey bit mind), durdledoor, lulworth cove... It's expecially lovely if you're into geography, I bored my family to death.

Oh yes I have very fond memories of Swanage, we always went there for family hols when I was a kid. Corfe Castle is worth a visit as well, not to mention the fearsomely endowed Cerne Abbas giant...

    Nice weather today though :)

Brighton is like a holiday all year round but Brighton in the winter and Brighton in the summer are two very different places... The stones are better than sand IMO, you can go on the beach any time without getting covered in sand and spending weeks getting it out of your clothes/hair/shoes, plus stones don't get in your food/pint/skinning up operation! They can be a pain to dance on though if there's a party...

Yes I spoke too soon - yesterday turned out to be a nice sunny day as well. I could almost imagine I was still in Greece, that is until I went into the water and gasped in shock at the extreme cold.

The only problem with pebbles is that if you go to the nudie beach they can get stuck in certain places.

I've recently got back from Poland/Slovakia was going to go into the Czech Republic as well but didn't have the time. Freindly people, cheap beer (and no where asked for id bar one place in Krakow), nice food and fantastic women. Will be going back again no doubt, rained every day though but when it wasn't raining the weather was fantastic.

Just got back from Camping near Abersoch in Wales. Pretty nice area, lots of good beaches. There is also a beach that is apparently famous for surfing (In Britain at least) called 'hell mouth' but when I went the surf wasn't too big, so I stuck to body-boarding. :D Think I may have to go back and have a go a surfing when the surf is good.
