    One of my earliest influences.
I saw him live in Denver at the auditorium theater.(1972)
It was the first time I saw people yell out and applause after the guitar solos!
Ultimate Blues man... Dude had the blues so bad, he hung himself in jail.(I'm not kidding man) R.I.P., Roy I'll always remember.......

Roy Buchanan was in my opinion the greatest guitar player of all time. He is credited with introducing controlled harmonies to rock n roll. He also has been the subject of falsehoods. There was a claim he was invited to be a member of the Rolling Stones, but this has never been proven. According to some, Roy made up this story and many others. He was a troubled man. He was very upset that he did not get the recognition he deserved. And yes, he was arrested for being drunk in public, and that night he hung himself in his jail cell. On a different note, Andy Powell of Wishbone Ash owns one of Roy's Tellecaster's, and he uses it on at least one song on every album he releases.

Good post ,zilla. On the stones thing, I heard an interview with Mick and Kieth where they confessed to secretly pissing in Roys beer! Fuckin' wankers deserved to be glassed!!!

    I recommend Roys second album.

I don't think he's really that 'unknown' these days.. I think that a lot of people have cottoned on to his abilities and do often cite him as an influence and/or in various 'Top' lists..
