Ok so i've been cleaning my bowl over the course of 3 days, sure i could have rushed it...but I had no rush since i've been sick with strep, and well smoking's not an option right now...not the point. the point is i was meticulously cleaning the back of her with pipe cleaners, to get her lookin 100% new...and I did it worked...so I was taking pictures of her, cuz I wanted to post em on my album b ecasue she is a WORK OF ART, no joke...and afterwards it looked like her colors were running. the clear glass part stared looking pinkish.... did i ruin my piece with the pointed tip of the pipe cleaner????? help!!!
if i knew how to post pictures on this thread i would....if i drag it...its huge... ahh im freakin out i loooooove this piece
ok well these were the pictures i took before i noticed the colors might be fading.... ok sorry these are just pictures of the bowl...i came straight to my computer to ask for help when i noticed she might be fading...umm shes saoking in efferedent still should i remove her? and the last picture if its good enough you might be able to look in the center of the bowl some reed dripping down. HELP
Lol, Hold the pipe up to something black, I'm sure it will look like it use too. "Color Changing Glass" pipes get darker the more you smoke because the resin creates contrast.
against black she looks ok...but she isn't gonna be against black...and PLEASE PEOPLE LOOK AT THE 4th PICTURE...doesn't it look like shes drippin red??? can i stop this? fuck i know nothing about glass blowing and the color of glass...anyone here?
i just need to know what makes you say that so confidently? did you see the picture? i want to trust you, im hopin you're right...just gotta be definite ya know
okay. in EXTREME heat, could cause your colors to run or mix, but thats only at the temperature they use to shape the glass. which is basically nothing you have done. what you did is keep it submerged for days causing the black gooey stuff inside your pipe to be dissolved. which is why your pipe looks good again when it has a black background. any clear parts of the pipe will change color after you start smoking with it.
hopefully this is the final question... so there is no way at all, that i could have made the colors bleed by scratching to hard with a sharp pipe cleaner???
No. That could put -scratches- in the color designs, but not make them run. Only a thermal or chemical reaction could do that; extreme heat or soaking it in some powerful solvent for example.
and efferdent isn't strong enough? I assume not, because I can put my hands in it and such...sorry I'm no chemist but thank you ALL soo much!
sorry to be obnoxious, I appreciate everyone's help!!! I've just never seen this before in all the pieces I've cleaned... {ps Mr. Writer I like your signature picture a LOT}
my guess is the streak has always been there you just never noticed it when you got it, and then once you smoked out of it the bottom of the bowl got black so you just couldnt see it, the next time you clean I would reccomend isopropyl alcohol its prolly cheaper than efferdent and works incredibly well.
I am starting to believe she is okay...haha sorry guys, I truly adore this piece. thank you!!! When I bought her, my two pieces had just been stolen at a festival, and I had no intention of buying a new piece because I couldn't afford it and I was about to leave the country for an extended peirod of time. But when I saw her...shit I couldn't let that slip away.
