Okay, hey been reading here for a few days, have been looking at dreading up for between 2 and 3 years but Im finally at the right stage to begin. Hairs maybe 4 or 5 inchs below my shoulders.

I know a lot of people seem to think completly natural is best, but I just get balls at the back of my hair, kinda like a pillow thing and this is with constant seperation. I never even use a comb on my hair, havent ever in fact, just run my fingers through it. So I think Im going to backcomb to start off. No wax or anything stupid like that.

How bad is chlorine water for your hair, I love my swimming but the sea isnt always avaliable so Im just wondering if chlorine would build up in you dreads, swimming maybe 2 times a week in chlorine pools. I know that swimming in the sea will be even beneficial to my dreads when I get them.

Also btw Im in Ireland, duno if you get many people signing up to the forum from over here. I still havent been able to locate any no residue shampoo over hear, so will have to be over the net or else make my own.

My hair is fairly thin, and theres not much of it, so I duno how much Im gona be able to play with my dreads when I get them because Im kinda scared about weaking them by over playing with em, palm rolling, and all that jazz

So anyone got any tips? or anything?

Thank you for your replies in advance, eatingblaa

Agree with SoaringEagle. Just wash thoroughly after swimming, if you swim a lot, your dreads my become dry, so if that happens, moisturize 'm with p.e. oil.

And aren't there shops all over the world which sell natural products?

yeah Il probably order bronners online if I cant get any locally, I was just looking at the website is it the classic liquid and bar soaps? Which flavour(that sounds so wrong) amm type would youe recommend? ANything but peppermint.

Maybe I have been looking for the wrong thing, maybe if I ask in places for natural soap rather than none residue shampoo, I duno, any test to see if it is residue free?

yeah I kinda just wana leave them alone and do there thing.

    thanks, looking forward to it
