So what has everyone been up to!?!?!?!

Xavier is a little over 8 months old now, still breastfeeding :)D)
Leane is almost 3, and is completely potty trained!

    thanks :)
I'm so happy the bfing is still going strong! I've become somewhat of a "nazi" about it, though.
A friend of mine from school just had a baby and she was insisting that her baby was lactose intollerant. After explaining to her that there was no lactose in human milk, and the only traces of it are found from diary products, she just shrugged her shoulders and continued to tell people that her baby was so she could go out drinking. ARG!
I was also using my breast pump at school and another pregnant girl there came up to me and asked that the heck it was. When I told her she said, "oh my god, that it disgusting! I am NEVER brestfeeding! It's so gross. And I don't want my boobs to sag, my baby has already ruined my body enough."
Ok, when she said that, it ruined my day!

People like that bother me, it's not that bad and how hard is it to wait at least a few months? I mean, you might as well go all the way after being sober for the first nine haha

Congrats on everything btw! Sounds like things are going very well for you.

There actually is lactose in breastmilk, all milk contains lactose, it's just milk sugar. However, no human infant is allergic to the lactose in human milk. Babies were meant to drink human milk. They may be sensitive to other things, but not lactose.
Everyone over the age of 5 years, the biological age of weaning, is lactose intolerant to some degree. After 5 years, human beings simply do not need milk or a milk substitute.

Good for you for continuing nursing!

ok geez now I feel like a retard LOL
thanks for the info brighid. Now that you say that, it rings a bell, I don't know why I thought there wasn't lactose in human milk...I swear I read that somewhere... But yes, I also said to her that our babies were meant to drink our milk, and she just didn't care. oy. I also went on to suggest ways for her to relactate, but when she came back with the response, "forumla is just as good," I knew I had lost her.
I'm having a really tough time now that Xavier is getting older, too (almost 9 months old now). You wouldn't believe (well, you probably would) how many dirty looks I get and how many people say, "you have to wean him or he'll be breastfeeding for the rest of his life." Hummmmm, something tells me he's not going to be pulling my boob out on prom night...
I'm able to just shrug the comments off, but I wish I had a smart comeback to their rude and uncalled for comments. I always love the, "oh, he's not on a bottle yet? you're supposed to start formula at 3 months!" when I tell people that formula will NEVER be coming near this kid, they give me funny looks. Oy
I just realized I am going to be the mother from hell when my kids have kids and they argue with me about this! lol

nyway, thanks everyone! I keep forgetting to come back around here for some reason. For like 3 years I was obessed with coming on here, but the last year school was pure hell and I was completely engrossed in my books. Good news though, I got an 85% in chemisty 30 and 92% in math 30 pure/honors (30 means grade 12 level). I'm so happy about that! I just found out in the mail the other day! :D
Hopefully I'll be able to do the same in nursing (and get my shit straight unlike I did with this whole lactose thing LOL)

It's great to hear that you're doing so well Kirstyn. Don't let anyone get you down about breastfeeding. You and I both know it's best for baby. Even if he does want you to whip it out on prom night. :) (Which he won't do.) We were at a play date the other day and my friend's four year old got hurt. The first thing he did was sit on mama's lap and push her shirt up. We know lots of three, four, and five year olds that still nurse now and then. It's okay,

It's good to see you posting again too Brighid. I've missed hearing from you. Glad ou're back.
