I'm not currently taking any kind of birth control, but I was using the Nuva Ring until July, which I loved, but I couldn't afford anymore. I'm taking a trip to visit my guy in Arizona in the next few weeks, and my trip begins and ends the same exact days as my period! This wouldn't be a huge problem on most vacations, but I was really planning on spending most of my time doing one thing, which you can't really enjoy as much when you're on your period... ahem... ;)

Anyway, I've called the doctor and can't get an appt. until January, but I haven't tried any health clinics or anything. The trip is in like two weeks, though, and I know those places are always booked up. Is there anything I can do to change things around so it doesn't coincide with my trip? I have a good feeling there isn't, but I thought I'd ask, anyway.... Please say there is. Shower sex is cool, but it can get old, and I tend to slip around a little... :(

Okay... nevermind.. I found this SCUBA diving site that recommended something called Aygestin, which can prolong it or make it start early. I don't know if it's Rx only, but it looks kind of expensive... does anyone know anything else about it? Here's where I heard about it: http://www.kapalselam.org/articles4.html

[IMG]Weird period question t...10-04-2004 10:57 PMwhy dont you try to be a good mother?

WTF? I'm going out there to visit the guy I've been seeing for the last 18 months.... he just moved. It's not like he's a complete stranger or anything. I'm not a bad mother... I haven't had a vacation since Noah was born. How does this have anything to do with my parenting, anyway? Fuck you!

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this? I think I might call the doctor tomorrow and see what she has to say about it. I would just like a little help beforehand, if possible, because I've almost gotten myself into some shit before... like when I was about to get on Depo Provera, and Brighid saved me. :D

sorry I can't help with the delayed period stuff - but whoever gave you that rep is more than a little harsh. Good luck with trying to find something - a good mum needs to be able to relieve frustrations in valid ways as well as being devoted to the kid :)

Thanks, anyway. :) Do I just ask the doctor to prescribe it to me? I guess I'll just ask what she knows about it and go from there... I'm so shy, I can't come out and say, "I need a prescription for this!" I have to like beat around the bush and try to get her to ask me if I want it... I suck... :(

imagine if men got periods though, they'd be doing things like that ALL the time.

before i was on birth control i used to freak out if my period hadn't started on time ( no matter if i'd had any contact with a male at all, let alone sex - i'm one of those omg-i'm-pregnant freak out kids.. i have a bad case of pregnancy paranoia :p ) i did the parsley tea (as i also found at sister zeus :)) and my period started the same day everytime. i dunno how early it can bring it on, but maybe a couple of days anyway! :)

So, if I drink the parsley tea, my period will start? I don't really know a lot about this stuff, so it was a little difficult for me to understand the site, but I get the general idea, I think.... oy.

well everytime i tried it, it was the day around when my period was supposed to start, but it just hadn't yet - once when it was late for a week because of stress, it starated as soon as i drank the tea ---- as far as it being two weeks before when it's supposed to start, i dunno how that'll work , but you could give it a try!

yeah, there are quite a few naturalist type website if you do a search - some sound a little daunting though, like sticking sprigs of parsely up there to induce your period....others, like having lots of vitamin C sound a little less intimidating.

i just threw some parsley in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes then poured the water in a cup. it gets all greenish and tastes kinda funky, it's better with sugar :)

How much are you supposed to drink, I almost lost it with the first sip. *blech*
I think I drank like a cup and then I couldn't physically drink anymore. I was even holding my nose and I couldn't swallow.
