This may sound really weird to you guys. But I'm just wondering who you guys think would be a better President if they were alive today? George Washington or Abraham Lincoln? Let me know what you think...
I'm not sure either of them would be well versed enough in contemporary political issues to be president. Assuming they did? I'd take Jefferson.
I would lean strongly in favor of General Washington. He was the first American general (that I know of) to support the concept of "conscientious objector." He also seemed to understand the dangers posed by nutty power-hungry fanatics like today's Republican Party, and if he were running the nation, the leaders of that party would hang. After a "fair trial" of course.
Washington was the most idealistic and virtuous of American men. Lincoln, was never the idealist he is portrayed to be, but the most realistic man. Good results have a quality all their own. The world needs leaders, not bullies. In today's world, we need a Washington.
The best president would be a product of his/her time, and not so removed in social status as to not understand all those he/she has pledged to protect. Military service no more than relgious orientation should be a predisposing factor in the selection as both serve to control the individual and will not totally reflect the diversity of the entire society.
Hey guys, If it was up to me, I think I would have to go with Washington! I actually found a website that is doing this big discussion on this topic called www.nowdebatethis.com. You should check it out! It's cool to see people's responses.
I was watching a biography on netflicks on my 360 about Jefferson, I was looking for a Jefferson thread, but oh well. Maybe I'll make one later. Post Script: I'm a necromancer
