ok, I was heading to bed last night, turning off lights and in pitch black-dark, I walked into a doorframe.(yeah mr. coordination...) Anyway, I found that my pinky toe was bruised and probably broken, but also looks like the nail came off then went back, but under the nail is all bruised colored...

My question is this: The skin split a little from the impact, but is it necessary to have a doctor look at it? I mean my mom used to break toes occasionally, but she said doctors can't do much for broken toes.

FYI: I treated it with hydrogen peroxide and I'm getting some neosporin today...

I have broken a few toes and the doc can't do much for you. You may be able to get some pain meds though.

Just make sure the toe doesn't get infected. If it does, you may need to see the dr.

Yeah, not too much can be done for a broken toe. It'll hurt for a while, though. I broke my second toe when I was 12-13, and it hurt for a few months.

    *cough* lost in translation *cough*

Dont worry about a doc, treat it yourself, I mean, you know where it hurts best... of course if it doesnt improve....

The only thing I can think of is that when I broke my finger, they strapped it to another which acted as a sort of splint. Maybe you could try this with your toes? I'm not sure whether it would work too well though [IMG]

I broke one of my toes once stepping out of the bath. When my mum got home she pulled it out to realign it and then strapped it to the two toes each side and then wrapped my whole foot up. She wrapped it up far to tight and I woke up in the night with a lot of pain in my little toe which was oviously having its blood supply cut off  . I quickly undid it and she rebandaged it much looser. You can still feel a little bump on top of my toe where the break was but thats it. Actually, I nearly broke another toe again today climbing out of my shower/toilet "pod" at uni, but luckely it was my big toe which contacted first so no real damage was done, other than a chip in the nail.
