okay, to all you skeptics out there. you can extract smoking opium from poppy seeds. i did. and smoked it, and it worked. it's really mellow, and needs to be made up in large batches and refined, but, it is possible. there is 33ng of morphine and 14ng of codiene per gram of seeds. granted, it's not a very high percentage, but, if you make enough of it, and refine it enough, it should start to get purer and stronger.

ya, but if your going to go through doing an extraction, do it with dried pods, then you can start getting decent amouts.

The amount of alkaloid extracted from seeds varies greatly from brand to brand, i.e. "McCormick" rather sucks!

The problem with using whole pods is that the resulting extract contains too much water soluble plant material... so the extract is still not refined enough for smoking purposes. (well It can be smoked, but its not all that great). There are extra steps you can perform on this extract to further refine it, or so Ive heard...

Doing a quick "wash" of the seeds with water yields a much more pure product that is much more suitable for smoking, however, it takes a shit ton of seeds to produce a decent amount of smokeable extract... but it works. That's the point.

actually, you're dumb. i boiled up 8 pods and got just over 7 grams of pure opium. i smoked it, it works. and it's potent....very potent....

the seeds really don't take much to get a decent amount. i used 4 tbsp of seeds and got over a gram of good smokeable opium. it takes 31 grams of seed to get 1mg of morphine, which, if you know anything about it, comprises only 10% of true opium, now, if you were to use just over an ounce of plant material, you most likely wouldn't even get a gram of opium. i used less seed than an ounce and got just over a gram of opium, sure, it doesn't have any papaverin or thebaine in it, but, it does have the to alkaloids the make up the majority of the opium, and, it works for it's intended purpose, painkilling.

No, you do not have pure opium. You have a substance we usually call pod putty that contains the alkaloids contained in the poppy pod as well as a bunch of water soluble plant matter that was extracted as well.

If you had ever smoked pure opium, you'd realize how shitty that pod putty is in comparison.

I never said you couldn't smoke the pod putty, I just said it wasn't all the great in comparison to real opium. Chill out.
